Please educate me, what are exactly 'Test Pipes" and why is there some resonated and not? I was in the group buy for the Kinetix cats. I went for the cats because I knew what it was but many members went for the test pipes. Did I miss something?

 

Cat are still more restrictive than "Straight through test pipe's" but less restrictive than stock and a lot more free flowing. Test pipe's are just straight pipe's basically, letting everything flow through as fast as possible without having to convert to another gas making it street legal. People who go with resonated test pipe's are becasue test pipes are known to be "raspy" and loud sounding at WOT and through 3krpm and up. But the combo between the borla and xerd test pipe's non resonated has no rasp at all.

I see now. Test pipes will give more power and sound than cats. Well, then what I want are the test pipes. I should have asked before getting my cats. It looks like there will be a brand new set of Kinetix cats for sale on this site as soon as I recieve them. Thank you for the info.

 

No prob man, but you do realize that test pipe's are illegal for street use and wont pass emissions before you buy them right?

I'm interested in you kinetix cats.. I'll buy them from you
or I'm willing to trade my test pipes (helix) plus some cash for your cats..I got the test pipes exactly a week ago (I could give you the receipt) and I love them, but my wife doesnt like the deeper tone that they gave me since I also have the borla exhaust . You'll get way more throtle response and the car will pull much harder. Make sure you do the ECU reset when you put them on since I was able to feel more responsiveness after I did the reset. I would keep them but the wifey also drives the car and she is making the payment on it so I kinda have to give in on this one..
Anyhow.. Let me know what you think..

 

Sounds like a great deal!! Sucks you have to give them up, its such a great mod too bad its not street legal :/

I live in NJ and it will "pass" the emissions test. I will just take it too my "friendly" garage
