I understand about wanting the most power but keep in mind how much louder your exhaust/car will get with headers and the rest of whatever exhaust setup you have...

Headers have the worst bang for the buck of all NA mods.

Low gains and a very high cost with installation.

I sometimes wonder about the megan long tubes though. I havn't really seen a good test on them.

Plain old test pipes make good gains. How do the megan long tubes compare to test pipes?

If the long tubes aren't significantly different from test pipes then there is no real advantage to the long tubes.

The only way to really know is with good comparative testing.

Well the primaries are MUCH longer than on the shorties which is a good thing...how good is it really is the question. I plan on buying megan headers and installing them myself so if no-one does a before and after dyno then I will try to do it myself.

Please do.

I don't know how a "Long tube" header can be so widely sold and nobody has dynod it?

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that but I figured more people would be curious as to what they are buying and paying for.

If I installed them on my G or Z, I sure would be dynoing it like crazy.

SG long tube headers were the first on the market for our cars. race developed or something. they sound amazingly loud. I'd go with SG motorsports before no name off brand companies that copied them.

They sounded so loud because the exhaust had no muffler iirc.

i am in a similar situation. I have an HKS hi power exhaust, and since I got it ive been looking at headers and test pipes. my installer said that since i have a great exhaust i should get excellent headers and test pipes. he suggested tomeis version 2 expreme headers and test pipes. theyre nice, but they also cost about 1300 all together and another 450 to install. ugh. i just bought a cobb AP so im hoping i can see some results with it. I havent been able to test it out yet. after all the money i speant, i am really wondering if i want to buy headers. stillen has a similar design (equal length) as tomei's... so i might go with stillen and their testpipes. but god, has anyone installed their own headers? im new to this car thing, but im fairly handy with tools n stuff. is it really that hard to install? i suppose the install price is whats holding me back.

Installation of headers is very difficult for a novice.

Installation is pretty difficult. There is very little room and its a pain to get everything in that small of a space. I'm told that the Long tube headers are easier to get to.

If you have another car to drive while the car is down, you can do it. Just take your time. It takes between 4-7 hours for someone that is used to this. It took me double that time.

It took me about 6 hours my very first time in the sedan...it wasn't that hard it was just a lengthy procedure. I'm up for it again in my coupe.

The tomei headers are far more superior then the stillen from every aspect. I have a thread over at my350z about the tomei install and the gains over stillen like headers, there are some pre/post dynos as well.

I think the SG header system goes all the way back to the mid-pipe flange.
hey for around $2000 per their website why not. I installed my headers with no problems just have to have to right tools. lol

per their website www.sg-motorsport.com

Wow, i was considering headers but was told money wise its very costly part/labor as opposed to the gains. I have stock headers titek testpipe n hks hi power dual exhaust... If i were to add headers (possibly the long ones) how much difference in hp would that make? I too cant find any dynocharts from before/after headers with any exhaust.
