Difference between Nismo Catback and Nismo Weldina
Hi all,
What's the difference between the Nismo Catback that costs around $1200 and the Nismo Weldina that costs around $2300?
Thanks

Re: Difference between Nismo Catback and Nismo Weldina
Nismo Catback - is the one made for the 350Z. Owners who have this must use a 6" extension tube on the midpipe so that it'll fit the G. Nismo Weldina is an exhaust from Japan made for our cars. I think specs (piping diameter, HP gains) are the same. I think the tips on the Weldina is more oval than the "nismo catback" you're referring to.

So basically they are the same except that you need to buy a 6" extension for the 350 Fairlady Z version? If this is the case, why would anyone buy the Weldina?

Re: Difference between Nismo Catback and Nismo Weldina
I also wonder if the jdm one sits more appropriately under the rear valence. The 350z with extension still sits very short underneath. I'd be concerned about damage from heat to the rear valence.
Re: Difference between Nismo Catback and Nismo Weldina
You answered the quesotin winw. With the 350Z version, your tips are shorter than the Weldina's...about 1-2 inches shorter. Basically, the length differences between the two are a shorter midpipe which is accomodated for with the extension tube and shorter tips on the 350Z version. If I had the money, I'd get the Weldina just so I could say I have a JDM exhaust, and it would also look better instead of having tucked in tips.

a 1100 dollar y-pipe . . that's gotta be some piece of hardware . . .
for that money, i'd just get the nismo exhaust for the 350z and then buy a y-pipe for 300-400

So the Nismo Catback would still be too short with the 6" extension?

Re: Difference between Nismo Catback and Nismo Weldina
The Weldina does come with the Y-pipe. I've done my research and was so close to pulling the trigger on this but I thought it over and figured I could spend the money elsewhere on the car instead of on a really nice exhaust and only get gains of ~7Hp.

Re: Difference between Nismo Catback and Nismo Weldina
The tips sit under the valence, so, yes, it sits different than the 350z pictures you see with the nismo. I think it's a matter of preference whether it's too short. Perhaps the exhaust gases aren't hot enough with NA to melt the valence. I've seen it happen in my former life with turbos and an improperly fitted exhaust.
Re: Difference between Nismo Catback and Nismo Weldina
Then is there such a thing as a 7" extention? or even a 8" extention that would fit the Nismo Exhaust?

Re: Difference between Nismo Catback and Nismo Weldina
I believe there are 10" extensions. In any event, I would choose the fujitsubo instead. It fits the G35 coupe like a glove for a lot less money.

Re: Difference between Nismo Catback and Nismo Weldina
I have the Nismo Weldina exhaust for the G35 sedan. It did not include y-pipe section. As mentioned above, I too didn't want to spend that kind of additional money on a y-pipe. However, I did get the Nismo Weldina from a japan parts broker. I don't remember the exact cost, but it was right around $750 with shipping and customs duty fees. It's awesome! Looks great, especially b/c I haven't seen a single Nismo JDM Weldina on a sedan ever. However, I'm thinking of going a different route and will be taking this off in November.
