Spectre Performance Intake? :/ (UPDATE w/pics)

I went to pep boys to pick up some light bulbs for my side markers that went out and when i passed by the air filter section I noticed a bunch of different intake pipes. Ive been looking for a ztube but Im on a pretty tight budget right now so I havent gotten around to it. Anyway, I stopped for a second to check out these intakes and hey looked pretty interesting. If you havent heard of them, they are pretty much like Lego blocks where you can piece together your own custom intake, its pretty neat. So I was thinking of making my own "ztube" or even a full blown CAI for half the price! I might go ahead and get it tomorrow just for the hell of it. As long as I get a good sound out of it Im pretty much satisfied. I will let you guys know how it goes.

If you have any opinions on it bad/good Id love to hear it.

Wow really? How much u want for it?

I actually went ahead and bought the spectre and installed it earlier today. Look pretty good but the quality feels awefully cheap as I suspected. I will snap some pics tomorrow. Total cost was $50 and 30 mins of my time since I had to assemble it to fit. I wouldve just gotten a used ztube bit I couldn't find one anywhere.

So I finally got everything installed and I am very pleased with the outcome. At first I only bought a piece of the intake to use as a "ztube" and drove around like that for a few days. As you can see from the pics the fit wasn't perfect where the tube meets the MAF housing. So I then went ahead and bought pop charger looking filter with an adapter. The adapter didn't fit quite well as the bolt pattern didn't match so I had to bring in the drill. But like I said, the outcome was IMO awesome. I get a sweet sound above 3k rpms and don't even get me started on WOT sound. Very well worth my $90+/-. Next I will fabricate a heat shield for it within the next few days and this gave me a pretty good idea http://www.nloc.net/vbforum/gen-2-li...ir-intake.html

not sure if that filter is going to filter as well as a name brand one...

but I like your ideal.. but for 90 you've spent you could of got a used jwt pop charger or ztube and k&n used.

thanks, I thought i was probably gonna get flamed for this but hey times are tough right now. I was looking for a ztube since I already had the drop-in k&n filter but I wasn't able to find one anywhere unless I wanted to dish out $100.

Like I said, I'm working on building a heat shield for it which I started on yesterday. Hopefully Ill finish it today. I will post pics once its done if I'm able to pull it off.

Any velocity stack on the filter or maf adaptor? If not, IMHO you are losing out. And others are right about using some no name filter and expecting it to be a quality piece.
