What makes a Pop Charger a Pop Charger???
So we have Z tubes, air boxes, short ram's, cold air intakes, filters and pop chargers....but what makes a pop charger a pop charger?
I'm asking because I'm looking to get the best alternative to cold air intake because I dont want to deal with the hassle of the position of the filter... I've been looking at the Stillen, but I see there is a Z tube and what they call and Itake which looks like nothing more than a heat sheild.
Then there is the JWT that is marketed as a pop charger and looks an awfull lot like the Stillen product... So back to my question...what is it that makes a pop charger, and lastly, what is the best product?
I have a 2006 Coupe.
Cheers!

Ok, that kinda makes sense. So the Stillen product that comes with the intake and the z tube is essentially a pop charger....they just don't market it that way...
No, Stillen sells the high flow intake. Looks the same as the OEM intake but has bigger holes and uses a cone filter.
The JWT pop charger is just a metal heat shield that wraps around their cone filter. Does not look like the OEM box. Pop charger is just the name they gave it.
The Stillen is the best way to keep away from heat soak and still get the cone filter intake sound.

So "Pop Charger" is to JTW as the "Big Mac" is to McDonalds.....got it. Alright... So now that the mystery of the pop charger is out of the way....I'm a bit closer to pursuing actual parts to buy.
When all said and done, I do want to have a clean looking setup. Seems like the JWT system looks like an after thought...almost like some universal heat sheild that could be used on any car.
I've seen some Stillen setups that have a nice looking air box...clean looking. The box that I saw doesnt seem to be like the box on the Stillen combo (http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...=&make=&model=)
I'm guessing the best approach is to get the Stillen Combo above, and then an additional Stillen air box to complete the system?

Do a search for Furookie SRI
That is another clean option and it comes polished with MAF port and filter. Looks hella tight. There's photos in the thread and I think It's just under $200.

Searched Furookie SRI...amazing shots. As sexy as it is...wouldnt I be worries about heat since the tube is metal? No heat sheild? I wouldnt be overhauling the whole engine bay like they did...that's bank!
