Anyone use Magnaflow's resonated X pipe as a rear muffler?
I'm running a sedan with the Borla. already have the resonated X as an X pipe but was considering using one to replace the borla muffler at the end. It still drones out the back a touch more than I'd like. I got the drone down alot with the front unit but now even the existing drone is getting to me. Off hand, I don't think this unit would be any more restrictive than the Borla (which is probably a through type also)

Again? lol. Was trying to avoid it but we'll see. They aren't that expensive but I'd have to figure out the tips etc... pay for labor unless I want to put some ss wire and gas on my mig.........
I always thought you were using the Magnaflow as a muffler...
FWIW it can be done - Tony @ Motordyne used to have it with the Stillen exhaust his sedan... and so did Gurgen I think... although I'm not sure its the exact same one you posted (might be)...
One of these days I need to get out to Tony's place and get it from him - he offered to sell it to me a while back.

Mike, I searched pretty hard to find out what Tony used and could never find it. Thanks. I remember it quieted down the drone a good amount. Based on that experience, I wonder if he didn't use the same tech for his new line of mufflers.
But to clarify, I used this same x/muffler up in the front of my system as the borla resonator didn't have a H or X up there. It quieted down the drone and I picked up some low end that the Stillen probably already had. (since it already features a X)

in 2005 I actually made a pretty good report on it with pictures and all, but it was a modification of the Stillen sedan exhaust.
I used two offset magnaflow mufflers as opposed to the magnaflow X muffler.
Gurgen is currently running a dual 3" exhaust with the X muffler. He doesn't have drone but in his case its too loud for DD. So he is looking for an alternative too.
In your case, you can't know what the effect will be until you try it. Every exhaust system will have different resonate, resistive and reactive characteristics.
The only way to know is to experiment.

I found something where Tony talks about the flow restrction of th stock stillen vs whatever Magnaflow he used. He used a non X version from what I read. The pictures no longer work.
Mike, you going to try using Tony's old muffler on your Stillen?

most likely... whenever I get out to his place again... However, I might wait for his "quiet-but-deadly" exhaust... or is it the "sushhhh-vrooom"?
