hp gain w/AEM cold air intake for g35 coupe
hp gain w/AEM cold air intake for g35 coupe
I installed an AEM cold air intake and i want to know how much horsepower do you gain when you install an aem cold air intake??? i have tried to find it and i can't.
thanks!!!
thanks!!!
Simple engineering calculations!
Each 11F air temp drop increases density by 1%, so measure the air flow temperature before and after a change to se how much you gained.
Air flow restiction can be easily measured with a manometer attached just in front of MAF. The absolute aymospheric pressure is 407 inches of water column at sealevel [29.92" HG].
Normal oem intake and air filter have ~~ 6-7" H2O of restriction as measured in front of MAF. So measure before and after. So a 4" improvement at peak rpm [4/27.7 = 0.1444 x 0.68 = ~ 1% improvement].
3 HP maximum improvement +- any temperature change improvement.
Most after market system actually increase temperature [measured at highway speed] so measuring temp is a must.

About 0hp, maybe a little less, especially when the car is at a stop ingesting all the hot stagnent air from the bumper area just as Q45Tech stated. Research is your friend on this site. You could have saved yourself a few hundred bucks and gone with mods that actually make the power advertized.

Pretty much any intake you get your going to get different answers.
I have a AEM CAI and I love it for the sound and maybe it gains veryyyyyyyy little hp at high rpms but basically no gain

with CAI and plenum spacer my automatic G35 dynoed at 242ph
That is about what a stock 350Z gets without any mods.
so I say that with intake and spacer you release additional 10 or so hp.
Mostly you get just the sound tho.

Why would you bump a 4 year old post to give a (incorrect) answer? For one, there is no purpose to bump it. Oh yea, and not to mention you are completely wrong, intakes dont give our car anywhere near 9-10hp lol...
