Xo2 vs hks

OK I see alot of people that hate so much on the XO2 yes i know the tips fade but besides that whats the real difference???? I mean you can get the XO2 to your door for like $500 and you cant get the HKS (new) for like less than 1600?!?!?!? Has anyone ever dynoed them side by side on the same car i mean cost vs hp has to come into effect some kind of way than just having nice shiney tips.....

People that make these threads usually already have their minds made up and set on the xo2. They're typically just looking for some sort of approval that it's okay to go with the xo2. And if it's the xo2 you want, go for it.

The xo2 can be had for less than $500 shipped. Look around.

The HKS and xo2 exhausts sound completely different. If you like the xo2 sound, then get it. If you like the HKS sound, then don't expect to get it out of the xo2 - get the HKS.

I have no problem with people getting the xo2 if they want the xo2. My problem is people settling for the xo2 when they really want the HKS. I'm not saying this is in every case, but it happens.

When you're buying an HKS, or any other name brand for that matter, you're partially paying for the prestige that comes with the name. Whether or not that is important and worth more money to you is you decision.

What difference does it make why people "hate on the xo2?"

Power to cost ratio - xo2 hands down.

people hate it because it's a knock-off, which is understandable but it also is how the world of car parts works. if hks didn't make the prices so high then maybe it would be a different story. plus people like name brands and slightly better fit, etc. big deal either way, to each his own.

if I paid 1600 for a exhaust and then I see people buy one that looks and performs exactly like it for 350, I would be hating too

The majority of people on this site are opposed to someone buying something for less than them. There is a very big bias as prices decrease on the G35 due to aging younger people and "rice" racers start to purchase. As prices decrease modding becomes more popular and prices typically will drop.

It sucks for people that "pave" the way because they take the brunt of the cost especially for R&D.

For some people I think its just a name brand thing. They have a "I'm better than you because I paid more money" attitude.

Don't worry about other people's opinions. As long as you like it who cares about them? Water off a ducks back...let it go.

Also, some people just don't like the XO2 exhaust...it does drone pretty nasty.

Except it doesn't look or sound alike at all, the two exhausts are very different if you know anything about them. It's like what I say about people that badge their BMW 3 series into M3's: the people who care about this kind of stuff can tell at a glance that you have a knock-off, and the people that don't care won't be impressed either way that you have some big canisters hanging out the back of your car.

That being said, I don't care who buys an X02. Like Calvin said, as long as they're buying it cuz they want it, not because they don't want to pay to play with a real HKS.

^pay to play with what? A name brand? it certainly isn't any good amount of extra power or the likes.

I agree that people are just pissy that their $1k+ exhaust system can essentially be had for $300. If people want to be sooo much better than the knock-offs go buy a motordyne exhaust system.

Modding a car properly is expensive. When I say properly I mean not putting anything on my car that's worse than what I already have, which is the case when people buy cheap wheels and cheap eBay parts. You're paying to downgrade. Hence if you want to mod properly, you gotta pay to play. Unless your definition of modding a car is to make it worse than before.

The quality and fitment of the HKS exhaust is equal or exceeds that of OEM quality, I can't say that for the X02. If it was, I'd happily pocket $1000 and get the X02 instead.

Amen brother, thas why its a cheap knockoff. There's no proof that ive ever seen that it dyno's any good at all. Let alone DYNO proven hp that compares with the HKS. The only thing that makes it CLOSE to having an HKS is the similar style. Whas more "pissy" about ppl buying knockoffs is that they spend money on a nice good quality car and throw crap parts on it.
Like i said before must make for an awkward conversation "Hey aint that a HKS exhaust?"..........."Naw its a cheap a$$ knockoff but it sounds JUST LIKE THE REAL THING!" or do you lie to everyone except urself and tell em its an HKS?
People pay good money on a quality researched tested product because you get what you pay for.

Just because you pay a lot of money "pay to play" does NOT mean you are getting a great product. That said, most ebay products are only mediocre at best.

lol wanna show any logical reasoning why that extra $1k would get you any more power based on the designs of the actual systems? last i checked better looking welds and shinier tips doesn't yield hp
