thank you for the correction, i'm new to this. okay well 5/16" spacer it is..

Intake: 06+ Rev-Up intake Airbox (nice and quiet)
Plenum Spacer: 5/16 Motordyne
TB Spacer: OBX? (or is there a more reliable brand?)
Headers: Megan? (who makes the quietest headers? preferably with the thickest metal? They cant be long runner because I still want cats)
HFC: Fast Intentions 400 Cell ? (does anyone make anything higher than 400 cell?)
Y-Pipe: 350z 07-08 HR (is this the "rev-up" y-pipe or HR?.. these terms confuse me)
Exhaust: 350z NISMO w/ Extension Pipe (unless there's something quieter)

^ will do. I was just planning on getting an Osiris tune when this is all done, and there was a section for "Throttle Body Spacer" on their form you fill out -- so i figured it might be important. Does the TB spacer do anything at all?

well that answers that.. so can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether the Nismo cat-back is the quietest possible aftermarket option? I mean, there's one for sale on here with the extension pipe for $500 -- which seems like a real bargain to me. Right now i'm leaning towards the Nismo unless someone can confirm that fuji is quieter.

I can tell you, I own a fuji and it is quiet. At idle, probably even quieter than stock. It never drones, but sounds great at WOT. You won't be dissapointed.

thansk for all the extremely quick responses you guys! its been extremely helpful in my quest.

well maybe i'll work on other sections first, and come to that last. Is it save for me to assume that the 400 HFC's from Fast Intentions are the quietest test-pipe section?

because this sounds really nice:

The Fuji is the clear choice, IMO. It's quiet, looks great, and requires no modification unlike the Nismo.

i cant help but think that with all your plans to change headers and cats, you are going to end up with a pretty loud car, regardless of the parts you choose.

First of all, HFCs are not test pipes. Secondly, they will be among the quieter ones. Any 400 cell HFC should sound similar. Does FI still offer 400 cell ceramic cats? I was under the impression they only offer the 300 cell metallic cats (but I haven't looked into this for over a year, so I could be wrong).
