Question

^ i'm a newb when it comes to this, but what's better: metallic cats or ceramic cats? I'd rather have cats than resonators in that section, so motordyne's art pipes are out for me. I'm looking for the quietest HFCs possible.

@Alan - the reason i'm trying to sort out all the quietest components is because I KNOW its going to get very loud of it dont. When i'm all done I want to get an Osiris tune and see if i can beat the G37

my exhaust plan so far

[ aftermarket headers ] = [ 400 cell cats ] = [ 350z hr ypipe ] = [ fujitsubo cat back ]

i'm assuming that the fujitsubo includes a mid-pipe section, and its not just a muffler, correct?

^ does anyone run the tanabe medalion touring? This is a popular choice in the lexus crowd that i'm from as a low dB solution.

Tanabe exhausts are rare among the G community.

so my new proposed plan for the exhaust side is:

Stock Header
FI 400 cell HFCs
350z HR Y-Pipe
Fujitsubo Exhaust (mid-pipe and muffler section)

the only thing that concerns me is that the inlet pipe on the HR Y-Pipe is probably 2.0" and the outlet on the FI 400 cell HFCs is probably 2.5". If the FI 400 cell HFCs are 2.0" then that's probably going to be the perfect setup!

I highly recommend the Motordyne XYZ pipe as an alternative to the OEM HR y-pipe. I know the HR pipe is a great value but the throttle response improvement with the XYZ is amazing. Also, the XYZ gives pretty much the ultimate in flexibility as single exhaust setups go . . . Good luck!

Agreed, if you are looking for max hp, the XYZ has to be in the mix

i'm just worried it'll get too loud with the MD XYZ pipe. As for HFCs, i know very little. Which type lasts the longest? Ceramic or Metallic? I'd assume metallic?

can someone educate me on HFCs? Where's the difference between Ceramic and Metallic? Which is quieter, which lasts longer? I'm going to replace the HFC first before i do anything else.
