Fujitsubo Cat Back Exhaust Installed

Late last night we installed my Fujitsubo Y-Pipe and exhaust. Sounds really good not loud, and has a nice bassy sound to it. You can hardly hear it unless you roll your windows down, or are at WOT. Took about 30-45 minutes to uninstall the old exhaust and install the new one, the hardest part was getting those rubber holders off of the old exhaust. The Stock exhaust is one heavy motha...the fujistubo was very light, I didnt have a scale so i couldn't weight it. I feel like I gained some power, but that is the butt dyno talking. Overall I am very satisfied with the purchase. I purchased it at StreetRyde Performance in Sacramento CA. Pics below...

Stock exhaust and my hairy leg. Anyone know where i can get some coilovers for my nike shox's???

Re: Fujitsubo Cat Back Exhaust Installed

hey Jim. i'm at UC Davis and was wondering how much you got the exhaust without the y-pipe for in Sac. I'm so close to there i may as well make a trip and pick one up. i have the Stillen rear section exhaust and i had to get used to the big single tip muffler look but i really like it now and it would be hard for me to switch back to dual tips, kinda like having a hard time from going to high-top shoes to low-tops. great pics by the way!

Hello,

Awesome pictures of the exhaust system, could you post one more of the car on the ground, from the perspective of someone following you?
Also, would the Y-pipe and mid-pipe connect to the stock muffler? And, can you buy just the mid-pipe?

THANKS!

Re: Fujitsubo Cat Back Exhaust Installed

As far as i know you can't just buy the mid-pipe, and i am not sure if the stock muffler could bolt into the midpipe. But when i get a chance i will take a picture and pm you when its up from a following perspective....You could try to buy the whole kit, and sell the rear section, but then again i am not sure if the rear section would just attach to the stock pipe, and vice versa...

Here's a sound clip.

Of single pipe system's, I like the Fujitsubo the most. Doing the math it's not too far away from the Stillen's cost once you add on a Y-pipe however, which is a must. Fujitsubo's corporate web site gives a honest account on how much power the system makes (unlike Stillen or Injen) and they even tell you how much the sound level's increase at several decisive RPM level's vs the same level's for the oem exhaust.

Re: Fujitsubo Cat Back Exhaust Installed

Thanks for the link for the fujistubo data Gsedan35, looks like they never dynoed and got the sound readings for it on a vq35 engine, only the vq30dd and vq25dd. I wonder if they dynoed it and got the sound readings with the y-pipe.

Re: Fujitsubo Cat Back Exhaust Installed

Since the Y-pipe is not included with the sytem when you buy it, the dyno is without. I believe that Fujisubo says adding on their Y-pipe give you 4-5hp. The gain's shown on the web site are within the norm for a V35 exhaust system that is single pipe and does not replace the oem Y-pipe.

Converting the dyno results on the web site,
222hp baseline @5960rpms
226hp with exhaust @6060rpms
+4hp gain

torque,
218 ft lbs baseline @4630rpms
221 ft lbs with exhaust @4580rpms
+3 ft lbs

The dyno plot on the Fujisubo web site is not from a VQ2.5 or a VQ3.0, it is from a VQ3.5. Two critical things do not match for it not to be the 3.5. One the HP made matches the point where the 3.5 peaks, the 3.0 and 2.5 generate their hp peak higher in the rev range. Also the 3.0 and 2.5 do not make the torque that the 3.5 makes. If the 3.0 was dyno'd, the most torque it would make would be 201lbs, the 3.5 makes equal hp and tq, the 3.0 and 2.5 do not.

VQ3.5 260hp @6000 260 ft lbs @4800
VQ3.0 260hp @6400 239 ft lbs @4800
VQ2.5 215hp @6400 200 ft lbs @4400
