1/2 in. Plenum Spacer power loss??

so me and my friend both have 2005 g35 6mt. He had ordered the 1/2 basic plenum Spacer(not iso thermal). it came with all the parts including an iso thermal gasket that we DID NOT instal due to not ordering the iso thermal kit. we instaled the spacer everything ran great no leaks no problems and reset the throttle body. we then we out and tested it mine vs his and I beat him every time. both have stock motors and his only has 1/2 in. plenum. Anyone else have this type of problem of power loss as well? do we need to instal gasket to get the full 13 HP? what do you thinks wrong?

well for one. 13 hp is not going to make a huge difference. so there is still a very easy possibility that yours would win everytime. not every motor is going to run the exact same as another. and yes the half inch spacer is said to lose some power. thats why if you do your research. everyone says to get the 3/8 spacer. eitherway theres nothing wrong

Both of you have REVUP's. The spacer isn't going to do much, if anything WITHOUT the MREV2.

IMO, install the gasket, it will help a lot. And if you're looking at the results from other revups with Motordyne products, like Jairen said, you want the MREV2, not just the spacer. The spacer alone will add about 2hp. And it's probably just shifting the power to the top too at that. And... it's 15 pounds of torque, much better than hp.

Unless I'm getting it mixed up with the MREV lower plenum, the spacer alone will change the a/f and it should have made the motor rev faster.

+1 on the MREV2

You got a free aramid gasket, and you didn't install it? How come? It was only a few extra steps.... Also, you and your friend racing eachother is not a real test to see if the spacer made power. You could just be a better driver than him and would win regardless.

Nice catch. +twatwillion.

Would be better if one of them installed a Mrev and a the spacer and redid their little informal test.

+1 on needing the MREV2 on a REV-UP.

This is coming from Tony himself.

It will however make good gains on the MREV2 so install them both at the same time.
