Do the ART pipes also smell bad, like gas smell? Would you go with Megan V2 TPs? (Not looking to spend ART money)
Yeah they do smell pretty bad like all other test pipes. Doesn't bother me though. As for cops, I think it depends on your area. I've never been hassled for the fumes, but I am always cautious of being in front of a cop.

I really don't know anything about those megans, so I can't help .

So you never got pulled over and the cop walked up to your car and could smell the exhaust?

I've only been pulled over once almost 2 years ago for tint, I still had my stock exhaust back then.

But if I do get pulled over, I'll quickly turn the car off before he has a chance to smell the fumes.

haha yeah you should actually always turn the car off before a cop walks up to your window. but really the fumes are not that bad, I dont smell them at all when im driving down the road. The only time i smell them is when i come to a sudden stop with my windows down or if im standing right behind my car while its on lol

Well, it is true that HFCs don't gain as much HP as ARTs or test pipes. But here in CA, no one wants a loud exhaust. Too much attention and fail the smog check. The guy that bought my exhaust last week had Tomei test pipes and TD Injen exhaust and his car was really loud. That's the reason why he switched to HFC and Invidia Gemini due to his Injen was rubbing badly.
Get the HFC and keep our environment fresh

OP, what exactly are you looking for?
-Performance?
-Sound?
-Smog legal? (are you installing yourself or paying? Adds up if you need to swap for smog)
-Your price range?

Well basically I see it this way...

I can get better performance with Test Pipes and they would be alot cheaper than HFCs...

Downside, the sound might not be as clean as an HFC, and of course it wont be smog legal...

But I'm guessing HFC won't pass a smog test either way in SoCal, is that correct?

BTW, I will probably have a shop install it for me, I don't have the tools to do it myself and would rather not risk it...

Ive been trying to do some research on HFC and test pipes. I like the fast intentions HFC, but im not sure to go ressonated or just standard HFC. I would also like to know if the Berk, Fast intentions, or ART HFC will fit with the stock exhaust set up, and importantly will all the HFC set ups pass emissions test? I live in Maryland. I could really use some good insight from you experts

thanks

Taylor
