I don't know what does or doesn't pass in Maryland but consider the Motordyne XYZ pipe with the HFC module. It was designed exactly for this kind of dilemma.

The question in the opening post of this thread is a question that has been asked on this forum for many years now. "Should I get test pipes or HFC's?"

There is a compromise going one way or the other. More power with test pipes or less smell with HFC's. Its a question asked all over this forum regularly.

With the Motordyne XYZ pipe with HFC, you no longer have to make that compromise. Now you can have the added power of test pipes or ART pipes and still have a HFC in the system.

And the XYZ with HFC is fully compatible with your stock exhaust.

Hydrazine, so does that mean that if I got Berk HFC with your XYZ pipe, i would get the same power as your ART pipes? just not as loud or as much fumes?

How much louder can the ART v2 be when compared to the Berk HFCs? It doesn't seem like it would be that bad.

Is the one HFC with the XYZ pipe enough considering there were two from factory?

No, its just the opposite. The ART pipes make more power and are quieter than the Berks. If you connect the XYZ with HFCC, it will still make more power and with reduced fumes.

I have the Megan resonated pipes now, with the megan y-pipe to a vibrant resonator and magnaflow muffler. I agree with those saying its gonna be loud with a cat back setup. If I shift above 3.5k people stare, even at part throttle. When I open it up and floor it, it sounds like the wrath of god lol!

This is my biggest debate, still cannot choose between Berk HFCs or ART pipes.. Either way I think I am going to keep my stock cats for emissions purposes just to be safe.

I'm interested in this XYZ pipe setup with HFC. Can anyone give a little more explanation of how that works? Are 1 or 2 cats needed with the XYZ?

Only 1 HFC module is needed.

You buy the Motordyne HFC module:

And buy the Motordyne XYZ pipe:

The module connects to the end of the xyz pipe via a v-band clamp. So now you have an HFC for emissions and smell, and can run ART pipes or other test pipes at the same time.

Everything can be found here : http://www.motordyneengineering.com/...945076d2e5d85b

So, say I want to keep the exhaust I have, the HFC and XYZ will replace my current cats 1-to-1? Just trying to clarify in my head exactly what the transformation is. I'm not very knowledgeable on exhaust systems ... yet.

No, they'll only replace your y-pipe.

How can the ART pipes make more power than test pipes? A pipe is a pipe. I understand the noise cancellation with the ART pipes, but how do they flow better than a regular pipe?
