Kinetix HFC V2 Review

I finally got my Kinetix HFC's. I installed myself. Install was pretty much straight forward. I do recommend removing the heat shield that sit on the drive side. That heat shield rubbed againt my stock cats.

The Kinetix cats are much lighter. And after the install i noticed:

-much improved throttle response. the car just responds better especially on the low end
-top end is better also, doesnt run out of breath as bad as it use to.
-GAS MILEAGE HAS INCREASED! I put 80 miles on them so far.
- exhaust sounds very very good. Nice and aggressive when i get on it and deep and mellow at idle. no rasp. My oem muffler is rattling when cold

My exhaust setup is oem header, kinetix hfc, HR y pipe, coupe mid pipe, and oem 05 muffler.

I ordered my Berk HFC's a few days ago. The more I wait for them and the more I read, the more excited I get. Glad to hear that it's definitely worth it.

I basically have the same set up as you but 6mt coupe. I just bought the HR y-pipe but haven't installed it yet, going to wait until my HFC's come in and do them all at once.

This modding thing is addictive.

Next up....Osiris

Go to youtube and search "G35 HFC". Plenty of before and after sound clips. The oem exhaust system is a really good system. The choke points are the Cats, exhaust manifold (hr manifold much better), and then Y pipe. The 03-04 sedan mid pipe is bad also

So do you have any funny noises with this setup, specifically a weird hiss when letting off the throttle while in gear or in neutral. Berks are known for this.

How much louder is the car? What about drone?

How was fitment?

No drone

The his occurs around 2000rpm. His only occurs when i blip the throttle and let the rpms drop back down

Fitment was an issue on the drive side. cat rubbed against the headshield real bad, but my stock cat rubbed that shield too. Other than that, they fit good.

My muffler does rattle, but i use to rattle when cold before the cats

That's too bad about the hiss and possible fitment issue. I don't think I could deal with the hiss. The hiss must be a trait of these newer "foil" cats because the more typical "brick" style cats don't hiss. If I go with HFCs, I'll probably stick with either Ultimate Racing or Crawfords because they use the brick style cats.

My brand new Berk HFC's don't hiss. Made my exhaust sound meannn. My neighbor from across the street has a Mustang Roush and he ran over to tell me how nice it sounds. And they bolt directly up where the stock cats did, the bracket that is.

I wouldn't have gone another way. LOVE the Berks.

Ran across this old post. Kinetix HFCs run Ceramic (brick) cats. That's why they pass emissions..even in Calf as I understand it. However, they are NOT CARB approved for Calif. They have reduced the cell count to around 200 for better flow.
