Whats the consensus ? I'm replacing my stock cats. Any opinions ? Random tech, Kinetix ?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: best hi-flow cats

I went from test pipes to Kinetix cats and now RT cats. The last, the best of all 3. Felt the most gains.

There are many instances on our sites of RTs crumbling in side. Performance Nissan even stopped carrying them for this reason. IMO, the best hi-flow cat is the Crawford. Performance Nissan must have thought the same thing, they now carry them. My set is great. The fitment and quality of finish was excellent. The power gains were noticable, and the sound is not raspy,

How's your exhaust smelling without the cats? Notice any increase in visible fumes or in exhaust odor? I understand you won't pass smog tests, but would you hate to be the car behind you in traffic?

No change in the Exhaust smell. The car will pass smog, if the inspector doesn't know exactly what the "G" cat looks like. The Crawford unit, looks enough like a stock cat to pass smog. I know it will pass the sniffer test and the electronics test. It doesn't throw a CEL.

That's great. That's one of the reasons I was staying away from cats.

No - They replace the stock cats. Nothing to do with the resonator.

Re: best hi-flow cats

ive got kinetix cats, and they are great. had some fitment issues, but somewhat solved them.

i was going to go with the Labree's cause they have a 2.5" diameter to match my Stillen exhaust, but turns out the Labree's wont pass smog, but will pass sniffer. They offer in 300 cell and 400 cell: 425 right now. maybe if group buy, will be cheaper.

Re: best hi-flow cats

In my oppinion, for the best high flow cat with good quality build welds and fitment, I would go with the high flow cats from crawford. I haven't heard any complaints (i check on this forum and my350z.com) about these cats compared to some others (kinetix, RT, even LaBree, etc.) RT cats make the most power out of all of them, but you run the risk of them imploding.

As for test pipes, stay away from all of them unless you want raspiness. Wait for the unlimted tuning resonated test pipes. They're still testing them out right now and will release them in Dec. for around $300-$330. I'm waiting for the release of these before I make my choice on whether to go high flow cat or resonated test pipes.

2K4 - 6 spd mt, diamond graphite coupe, z-tube, borla exhaust. Next mod: High flow cats or some type of test pipe.

Re: best hi-flow cats

Keep in mind too that you saw more RT issues because they were the first aftermarket cats available for our cars.
