concern regarding z-tube installation

Hey guys,

I just recently purchased a Stillen z-tube and tried installing it today. I ran into some problems though... to which I've hoped I've taken care of properly.

First off, based off of the guide on myg35mods.com, it says to remove g-tube along with this (circled in yellow)- which I'm assuming is a factory coupler I'll need???

I ended up taking that part off and attaching it to the z-tube as shown because I didn't have a coupler to attach the z-tube with on top...

and installed as is...

I haven't driven it yet in fear of doing something wrong.
Also, I attached the emissions hose to the underside of the z-tube, with it facing towards the back. Is that right?

The reason why I'm concerned is because in his next pictures, like this one, he doesn't have that left there.

and as shown with his z-tube in the next picture after that, the factory coupler that attaches to the top looks completely different

That's a huge relief, lol. First time doing these mods by myself and I was so afraid I'd do something totally wrong.

The top right corner of my engine cover is resting on the coupler... is that normal?

Also.. this shouldn't void my Infiniti warranty right? If so, all I'd have to do is replace the G-tube?

i think mine did the same thing when i had one on my car but its been so long that i cant remember for sure. maybe try twisting the ztube in either direction so that it changes the angle of the tube and coupler. its not going to affect anything in a negative way though with it touching like that

Everything looks ok. I would try what kennymo suggested and see if you can twist the z-tube so it isn't touching the cover. I have the OEM Nissan Z-tube and my engine cover comes really close to touching it.

looks like you installed it correctly. I agree with kennymo, try twisting the tube on the throttle body end to see if the bottom of it can go any further. now drop a KnN filter and youll get a nice new intake sound

Absolutely not. However:

Do NOT tell your insurance company that you have made any "modifcations or customizations" to your car. Do NOT bring your car in for major service without swapping back to the stock intake tube. I think many people get away with spacers and the mrev2, but I'm not even sure that would be safe...

If you do bring it in and they notice it, all is not lost. They would have to prove that whatever is wrong with the car is caused by your modification. It will make your insurance go up if you report it as a customization or mod.
