Md spacer, art, tdx2 installed now burning out oil

So I bought my car with 33k miles on it and the previous owner had already installed a 5/16 spacer on it. Fast forward 4k miles and I want some more power so I went out and bought the exhaust and art pipes. Now my car is burning out oil and after calling around I couldn't really get a definitive answer so I wanted to see what you guys think. From searching around I see this is a common problem.

But also could this be from a smaller oil filter? Because when I did the first oil change on the car the filter I got was noticeably smaller than the one that was on the car.

Also how do I check to see if it is a major problem and how would I go about fixing it.

Thanks ahead of time for any help

are you burning oil or smelling the excess gas from the art pipes?

is you oil level changing significantly and you need to add oil to stay in a good range?

art pipes are still test pipes. the smell will get a little better after some more driving but it will never go away. if you are seeing white and blueish smoke, that is burning oil and it could be a number of things (sadly none of them are easy to fix). you are posting in the v35 section so im assuming you are non rev-up.

Look for smoke thats a big indicator of burning oil.

all engines use oil throughout there life cycle, so right before an oil change it isnt uncommon for your engine to be a quart or 2 shy. if you are doing an oil change this weekend check your levels over the next month and make sure things are staying aruond level. dont get yourself too worried the non rev ups dont have as bad a history as the rev ups do. but keep on top of it just to be safe.

03 04 are non rev (cam phasing on only 1 cam)
05+ is rev up (cam phasing on both intake and exhaust cams)

[cam phasing changes the duration and lift on the valves allowing higher airflow at higher rpm's and WOT]

Ok should I check the oil for anything as I do the change or no? Also would a tune do anything to help this out. A guy I work with was talking about a specific kind of tune some shops will do

A tune can help with the smell if you are running excessively rich but it won't fix oil consumption if that is what you have.

Sorry about the repost. Would I feel a difference or hear something if one of the rings failed. And how would I go about fixing the problem and prevent it again. The nearest ifiniti dealer from me is like 45 miles away

Also I was not having this problem before the exhaust and art pipes and I've maybe driven 1000 miles since putting it all on

One of the things Nissan/Infiniti looks for when diagnosing an oil consuming engine is a engine ticking sound.

You can put the stock cats back on and that will filter out the smoke you see, but if the engine is consuming oil, it will still consume oil.

pull your plugs make sure they arent drenched in oil

get a compression test done.

im still leaning towards the pipes just burning off some manufacturing materials ... breather mods wont kill an engine that quickly and more often than not it will shoot a CEL

ill take the art pipes if you put the cats back on :P

hydrazine: have you seen anything similar to this with a fresh install? I really doubt the oil consumption but blueish smoke isnt really a good thing? Do you guys use any products on the pipes prior to shipping? im sure you clean them up a little after manufacturing maybe hes still burning off some chemicals.
