Question Best Starting Mods

Hey everyone, about a month ago I finally got myself an '06 G35 6mt coupe and I love it. I've been reading through the posts for quite some time now and i'm really wanting some experienced input on what some good starting mods are. Where should I start to get some good performance results?

So far from what I've researched I'm really looking at MD 5/16 spacer with the MREV2, and i'm sort of looking at the MD ART pipes and all that exhaust stuff offered by MD, but it's all a big mess to me. I don't really want too many fumes but I saw that someone had the ART pipes with the CAT accessory to like the XYZ tube and the TDX2???? I think it was Jkay. I don't know AT ALL how all the different exhaust parts piece together.

What are good mods to start out with?

Thanks!

to start out with...z tube, 5/16" spacer, k&n drop in or popcharger, etc.

once you get more into it, mrev2 and exhaust, new FD, and tune. you could look into new pulleys and lighter flywheel and clutch, but I don't wanna overwhelm you.

with the tdx2, you don't get an option to run MD's accessories that go onto their xyz pipe. the tdx2's setup has the xyz pipe run directly into the central resonator. the original shockwave had this feature - to run a HFC, resonator or straight pipe. the exhaust does drone, but Tony came out with resonated v2 parts to stop that. the original exhaust is discontinued though, and may have a hard time trying to find a used one.

I've heard and stood/driven behind Fab's G, who runs ART pipes and TDX2. The fumes are there, but if I didn't know to pay attention to them, I wouldn't have noticed them - they're pretty faint, even with your windows down.

hope it helps, welcome, and have fun with mods.

Your aiming in the right direction, ART PIPES absolutely love them and you dont have to worry about fumes they arent that bad, md shockwave tdx2 great product ull see the best gains with these exhaust mods.

Now for intake mods: I strongly suggested u do not get any metal intakes or any that come with a cone shaped filter, because metal gets hot fast so you will suffer from heat soak (loss of power) and cone shaped filter throw off the MAF so ur car will think its getting more air wen its really get less so once again(loss of power). I suggest you keep your revup air box(what the car comes with) and drop in a k&n filter and get a oem z-tube (not a stillen one) as for the mrev2 and 5/16 spacer those are wonderful you got my suggestion on those

Addition mods i suggest: Lots of ppl say grounding kits are usless, but there is one grounding kit that actually is very good, it really benifits your ride in many ways. it is called sxexcx custom grounding kit, search sxexcx and he sells them on here highly recommend it......

And Finally: to finish all your mods off id get lightweight stock size pulley kit crank, alternator, and idler pulley 3 piece kit and to rapp it all up an osiris tune to unleash all your horses!!!!!!

Hope i was able to help!
Hope you have a great time modding! if you ever need any help PM me !!!!!!!!!!!

Hey thanks for the helpful tips! I'm definitely more interested in hearing about the fumes because I really want the MD setup but I'm really nervous about the fumes. I had an Integra GSR that had HORRIBLE fumes and I don't want to go back to that. At all. In order to get it I would pretty much like to hear from people that you only notice it at a stop light with the windows down, and then when you start driving its gone. Anything other than that would not be ok for me so please let me know honestly what the fumes are like in more detail anyone.

With the aftermarket clutch flywheel, possibly pulley, does that make the car faster or just launch harder? Also the chatter is something that's making me shy away but if it's WORTH IT then let me know. Aside from chatter, any flaws? Is it hard to daily drive with these AEM parts, and is it hard to get a smooth grab while DD around town or is every stop to go start a launch? I want to keep this car a practical daily driver, but faster! I've finally upgraded from the Civic si-Gsr seen and want to take advantage of this v6!!

Also, the car came with a F5 Fujita cold air intake, not the shiny metal but the "wrinkle black". looks like a really quality part, and it's hooked up to my car with wires like you see going from headlights and stuff, not used to that at all i'm used to the cheap JDM GSR seen haha, could anyone tell me why its hooked up so fancy?

I myself love the ART pipes it was the best investment for my car exhaust i think, any test pipes you get your gonna get fumes period, some more than others, but i have to say there isnt much fumes or rasp at all with the MD ART pipes, you only smell a tiny bit wen at a light once your on the move the smell goes away, As for the clutch, flywheel, and pulley kit they will give you both hp and tq, pulley its more tq than hp, aftermarket clutches and flywheels are built to withstand more hp and tq thats y they come in stages the higher the stage the more it can handel ex: (stage 1, 2, 3 etc...) im not fimilier with the fujita cai but i would sell it for $$$$ and invest in a rev up air box, k&n filter and a z-tube as suggested in earlier posts

once again hope i was able to help!
Have fun with your G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I was thinkin' about putting it up for sale, I love the whistle though! We'll see haha. As for the AEM clutch flywheel etc, how is the smoothness of those on average? Does it just take some getting used to? I don't want to have a harsh stop to go start, like a jerk or launch. Can you still let them out nice and easy for a gradual start like pulling away from a red light or driveway?

Random, but whats your opinion on GroundingGear? I could see the usefulness in 5A/T but how about a 6mt? Is it mainly for looks or does it really help?

Thanks

Our cars are known for having terrible clutches and transmissions, i speak for most of the people here on driver nomatter how experienced you are at stick its pretty much impossible for a smooth shift, i had trouble in (1st and 2nd) the rest goes smooth, the only way to get a smooth shift is to focus on your clutch release 120%, so i have to say an aftermarket clutch is a very good investment, ACT clutches are the best clutches for our g's, if you dont wanna spend that kind of money jwt has a nice clutch flywheel combo, i say ACT i dont regret it

GroundingGear Absolute NOOOO LOL! i told you in my earlier post that there is only one grounding kit that makes gains the rest are for show!

Here is the LINK to the https://g35driver.com/forums/group-b...nding-kit.html

Just PM sxexcx for shipping ect.....

If you have anymore questions, im here!!!!
