hr y pipe and test pipe install
hr y pipe and test pipe install
I am installing the M2 HR design y pipe this week along with resonated TP. I am wrapping the test pipes in header wrap to help eliminate any rasp. Will this bolt up with out any issue? I had a 350z before and installed a full exhaust, but I just saw a picture of a g35 install ,and the extensions look to be after the cats.
so do i need to order extensions, or will the test pipes bolt to the y pipe and fit to my stock catback?

The TPs will bolt on to your Y-Pipe. An extension would only be needed for a Z midpipe to work on a G35.
Where have you read that wrapping the TPs in header wrap will eliminate any rasp? I've never heard that before and don't see how this is possible.

I came across it on youtube and other forums. I googled removing rasp from test pipes. There is a guy from Hawaii on youtube that have before and after vids.

I also believe the hr design helps eliminate any rasp as well
As to the header wrap, I believe it just dampens the vibrations or chance of rattle. If you see in his vids, there is a difference in tone of the cars exhaust.

I'm installing some M2 test pipes next weekend. I have the Megan HR style y-pipe that I've already done some header wrap on to help prevent the rasp that I'm sure will be coming. I'll also be doubling up on the test pipes to help tone it down, but I'm almost sure I'll get some.
Do not double up on the header wrap, supposedly it can trap in moisture and promote corrosion. Also depending on where it is in the exhaust it might not let the metal expand enough and could be bad for welds. Some recommend painting even stainless with high temp paint before wrapping to prevent corrosion. There should be a recommended overlap by the manufacturer.
I doubt wrapping would do anything for wrasp but it might quiet down the twang heard in thinner aftermarket exhaust metals.
