SC: Throttle Body Coolant Bypass?

Hey guys,

Been searching around a good bit and I'm still left curious. I've read a ton of threads on the supposed benefits and detriments of this mod, but that's not what I'm after.

I'm currently looking at deleting a ton of extra coolant lines off the engine, and I've actually lined up buying all the parts off another individual's motor. One of the things he deleted are the TB Coolant Lines.

I live in South Carolina, and drive the car (at current) year round. Lows in the winter can get down in the teens, so I'm really a bit concerned about how deleting the coolant lines to the throttle body will effect the car.

Is this something that I can get away with where I live, or is it going to actually keep the throttle body from working properly?

If it's something that's going to really have an effect on the car in my climate and I need to keep those particular lines, then so be it... I just want to make sure I don't do anything that has a negative effect, even if it means missing out on a good deal.

Thanks in advance for your help guys!

It should be fine, just make sure you let the car warm up for a few minutes before driving after its been sitting out in the freezing temps.

It won't save much weight and it won't make the engine run any cooler. So why do it? It just adds potential unknowns.

To be honest, Tony, I like the look of the cleaned up engine bays without a ton of extras. The setup I was looking at going with has a Nismo thermostat, the Pathfinder cooling mod, along with modified pipes that get rid of that hose across the front of the engine, along with several others.

I just really like how this looks:

God I love that!

If I need to put my own "kit" together a little further down the line that retains those TB lines, then so be it. I just caught a pretty good deal on an entire setup that's already done and just needs installed. Figured I could save some money and some work at the same time!

Just concerned about that TB!
