Oh boy...stripped header bolt. Opinions?
Oh boy...stripped header bolt. Opinions?
So the nut on the stud that connects the header to my ART pipe is stripped. My buddy tried to weld another nut onto it, which we were going to try to use to get the other one off, but we were still unable to.
I ended up taking it to a shop and they're telling me that because of the other nut welded on to the stripped one that they can't do anything except replace the whole header (which is 3 hours of labor costs + the new header).
Does anyone know if there's anything I can do in this situation? The shop tells me there's nothing I can do to save the stud. I don't see how welding the nut on would affect anything. The weld is only on the outside, it's not touching the threads or anything. It's a weak weld at that, I think I could probably break it off if needed.
Would a sawzall work? I'm open to all ideas
EDIT: Sorry...thread title is wrong. It's the NUT on the stud is stripped, not bolt.

that tool should work just fine then... you could get a dremel and grind the weld off, remove that nut and then use the listed tool to get the original stripped nut off. this is doable... just hope the weld didnt get into the threads.
