3inch inside diameter intake pipe from the airbox to tb
Ok I am thinking about replacing my stock maf housing and z-tube with a 3 inch inside diameter intake pipe. It will be one piece and bolt up to the airbox and tb. I am wondering if this mod will be worth it or would I be just wasting my time naturally the car will be returned for it.
My mods are the following revup airbox, z-tube, stock size light weight pulley set, tp, y-pipe, 3inch exhaust and uprev tune. The car is a 2005 G35c 5at, future mods are art pipes, 6spd pumpkin swap and maybe new intake pipe

I say you should save your money for mods that actually do something.
Get a 5/16th spacer. That is better than an intake any day. ART pipes are good too.
Spend money where you know it will be a good investment. The mods I mention have been proven to do good for our vehicles, while intakes are still on the iffy side and even said to not do anything. Just thought I'd share.

As for the intake, I've been doing more research and looks like the bigger maf housing and intake is good for a few hp after a re-tune. Going to start ordering the materials to make a 3.25 inch od and 3inch id one peice maf and intake pipe that will bolt up to the stock revup airbox.

When researching all these magical gains, make sure you are seeing trust-worthy before and after dynos (with tune on each)... if you take a stock G and add a 3" intake with a tune (for example) - any gains you see are like from the tune more so than the intake.
Just a thought.
And FWIW - imo, you're wasting your time... but if you have the time and it makes you happy, have at it

Sounds like a cool idea, especially to me since i do not have a z-tube, am a pipe welder and fabricator , and access to a cnc laser and 304L ans 316L stainless piping. One suugestion i would make - use thin wall sanitary tubing if possible. 1/8" wall tubing is way heavier than whats needed. Not only will non z-tube owners have an option, but a nice looking piece of bling in the engine compartment is a+ .
