its based off the nismo/ stock design. which is inherently flawed. if you are gunna get an ebay y, get a megan racing one.

or shell out the extra cash and go with XYZ pipe.

lol that megan one used to be 40 dollars...nortex your best bet is to make a want to buy ad in regular classifieds on my350z...all of those guys have hr-y's sitting around sense most of them have gone boost. You should be able to scoop one up quick. They rarely pop up on this forum.

Its not the inlet sizes but rather the bends. The hr one is more efficient. Dyno proven

I have read many threads on here and ls1tech.com,performancetrucks.com and many other mod sites. I talked to 2 diffrent tuners and I have came to the same questions. Isnt the big deal with exhaust smooth flow? Longtubes,y-pipes,mandrel bends compared to crush bends all have one thing in common smooth flow. How does the hr-y with bends out flow any cheap or expensive smooth flowing exhaust. The xyz is imo the same design as the cheap y's posted. Im no genius but Id say its like buying corsa exhaust for trucks. You are told its the best so you believe it.

Yup, agreed, smooth flow is a large part.

Thr HR Ypipe is smoother than the DE version. Its not good, its just better.

Note the merge point on the various Ypipes, they all differ, MD's site states through R&D that there is an optimum merge point and optimum diameter on the inlet and the outlet.

Mandrel bends and quality merging are very important, so long as you upgrade to some better than the terrible merge and crush bends of the stock pipes, you're going to gain.
