Magnaflow resonated x-pipe questions

Hi all, I just got an M2 (HKS rep) exhaust installed and looking to reduce the drone that I hear in cabin. Sounds great idle, but the freeway drone is annoying. I've been reading about the resonated x-pipe and quieting down the exhaust a little bit. Question is, I'm confused where the x-pipe goes/where it gets welded. Will a muffler shop know what to do with it? And any one with experience on how much drone it will reduce? Thanks. I'm new to this!

They need to cut off the H-pipe and the resonators. Then weld the x-pipe in place of them.

As in my case, it greatly reduced the drone on the freeway. There is a little some noise, but definitely and improvement. Sometimes I can barely hear it.

Thanks for the help. I'm just not use to the loudness yet, I guess.

yup, replaces the H section and should line right up. I have it on my invidia g200 true dual. this helps even more with rest pipes or hfc. Even after burn in, that extra muffling chamber eliminates any of the annoyance factor from an exhaust.

Replacing the crappy H-pipe like the others have stated with the Magnaflow resonated X-pipe will help out on droning and also help out giving some power back to the low end. I will give it a deeper growl as well!

Yep 2.5".

Thanks for the help. I'm actually getting a new exhaust because the M2 didn't fit correctly on my coupe.

reviving this thread, cuttong out the H-pipe and resonators on the HKS replica is a big section of the exhaust. if the x-pipe mod is done.... will there need to be an extension welded on also? or is the 20 inches from the magnaflow x-pipe enough?

Did a lot of research. Some people keep the "H" cross section and don't have to get extensions. But I recommend cutting the "H" out as its restrictive

Definately cut the H-pipe section. Depending on what version you have, most will only have a 1/2-1" opening connecting the pipe making the H-pipe usless.
