Buying Used Cosworth Plenum
I have a chance to buy a cosworth plenum off a twin turbo that "broke", would you guys recommend buying it at all, and if so, what would be a good price to get it at assuming its in fully functional good condition? How do I test it out to make sure it works fine, have my mechanic test it?
To address the question. What "broke" on it? Your information is a little vague. The piece is mostly metal, save for the end caps (at least on the old version). On the old version of the Cosworth manifold, the end caps were carbon fiber and can potentially crack or otherwise be deformed. If I were doing a check, I'd pull the end caps and make sure that the o-rings (for the seal) were in perfect condition and there were no cracks in the end caps or chips from the mating edge where it makes its seal.
If it's a new version, You're pretty much down to checking the o-rings.
There won't be much that can really break on either, so details are key to us helping you further.
As for price, I have definitely NOT seen these go in the $700 range. More like $1000.

what are you going to test
it has no moving parts... Unless it got dropped it should be fine look for cracks(which I have never heard of one cracking yet) is it is not physically broken it will function fine. I would guess $800 maybe more if it has the carbon fiber end caps and it's polished. They are hard to find used so it depends on how bad you want it, I just looked and none have even been for sale this year.....and I found last December a kinetix POS was selling for $650 I would say at least $800 for a cosworth one.

+1 for what sylvan said, there's pretty much no way that it was the plenum that broke... lol take a look at it and if it looks decent 99% chance that its alright. Last one I saw for sale went for $1000 used
