Quiet the Motordyne Shockwave TDX2 exhaust

I know this probably isn't a subject thats discussed often but I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to not silence but decrease the sound volume of the tdx2 exhaust system. They sound great but its a bit loud for my liking.

Have stock cats just need to muffle it a bit more

you could sell it...lol, there really isn't any way without making major changes and/or completely replacing it

x2... or stay out of the gas. mine only talks to me when i take off from lights or get into it while cruising. its quiet the rest of the time. then again ive driven a lot of dual 3" exhaust cammed out musclecars over the years... quiet is relative! but in answer to your question... nothing easy that you can do to quiet it down other than replacing it. u might try to sell it or trade someone with the motordyne VQ exhaust.

I was thinking the same thing today. I'm running ART pipes with mine and it is just, LOUD, unless I'm cruising at lower speeds. But then again I'm still getting used to it. This is my first ever aftermarket exhaust w/o cats. It takes some restraint at times because the sound is so intoxicating.

I would ask Tony from Motordyne and see if he has any suggestions. Maybe he can get you a special Y-pipe that uses the resonator module. Other than that, there's not much else you can do without adding resonators to the exhaust.

I have a spare set of the motordyne gamma back sections that will work just fine on the tdx2. They're great at keeping the same sound but decreasing the volume. Check out my FS thread. This is the only way to quiet it down.

^basically these rear sections have the resonators built in and not branched off.

Yeah, that would work also. I don't think the Gamma was drone free however, like the tdx2 rear section.

I feel like my tdx2 is not even drone free tho with my HFCs..... I have some art pipes i need to throw on and maybe it will be a different story then. The gamma backs are not 100% drone free, but since OP has oem cats I would bet the gammas would be drone free or very close to drone free.

That exhaust is specifically designed for performance...your better off selling it than modifying it

If this is the Version 1 (without resonators on the rear section) you can always opt to switch to the Version 2 (with resonators on the rear section) which I read is a bit quieter and droneless than the V1.

Or you can always fabricate silencers.

No need to sell it... adding resonators in won't affect performance of it at all. I would just see if you can get a resonator in the Y-pipe or get the Gamma rear section and you'll be fine.

Heh, interesting.

OP, call Tony @ Motordyne, ask him for the resonator module for the TDX2 It replaces the straight mid pipes, still v-band

Resonators restrict air flow...while it may not be much it will change performance.
