Lightbulb Takeda SRI. Advise, Opinions?

This is my first performance mod on my new everyday driver.Very grateful to be 20 years old and drive such a beautiful car. So I've done my research. Found the best price from a vendor on here. But before i commit i want to be 100% confident that I am making a purchase i wont regret. I could careless about how much horsepower it does or doesn't add. Im just interested in a breather mod so my ride can flow better and sound sexier.

I've seen some people have theirs installed without any heatshield and it confused the hell out of me.Why have a cold air intake that sucks in hot air from the engine?

Anyways, I plan on getting one with the Heat Shield.

But my main concern is that tube is metal and would that defeat the purpose of an CAI?
and then i saw this..

Hopefully some of you guys have had experience with this and i look forward to your opinions/advice.

Well if you buy an intake you are most definitely not doing it for horsepower, since you'll probably lose some to heat soak, part through the intake and part through the metal tube. If you do gain any it will be 1-2hp at speed. The stock airbox breathes really well already.

The typical recommended route is to just go with a K&N for more flow and a Z-tube to eliminate the baffle and increase induction noise, which would still probably be cheaper than the intake. Also, if you have a Rev-up, a MREV2 will do more for the breathing than any other single mod, and will net you a solid 15-30hp/tq(various opinions). You can get them used for fairly cheap, and it is a very noticeable difference. A spacer will also help your top end but not do too much for low-mid range.

Personally I like my throttle body spacer as well. It's arguable if it does anything, but it does make a really cool noise similar to an intake and I noticed about a 3 mpg boost in my highway mileage. Very mild performance boost if anything, maybe 1-2 but I definitely didn't lose any.

If you want an intake purely for the sound difference in your exhaust note, you want to get the Injen SP series.

I used some leftover reflect-a-cool from my header install to wrap the top tube and I noticed it pulls better now.

forgot to say.... if you have a rev up get a non rev up upper plenum and plenum spacer, if you have a non rev just get the spacer. a used non rev plenum will be like $50-$70 and gives more bottom end power. then the spacer will give you back your top end HP...

Yea i dont think ima get the takeda anymore. It just looks nice but its not like ima ride around with the hood up showing off my intake. lol
I think ive come to a decision. I plan on getting a rev up box with z tube with drop with k&n.
Thanks everyone for your advise and helping me come to a conclusion.

This is the link i plan on purchasing from. What you guys think?

There you go. If there are any gains to be had, it is with this combo and there is dyno proof for it by a member on this forum. I wouldn't use a K&N though. Use a dry high flow panel filter such as Apex'i or AMSOil.

You can probably buy the Rev-Up airbox and Z-tube used on this forum for cheaper in the Marketplace.

is a dry filter one that you can wash with soap and water doesn`t need a recharge kit like the k&n?

I wouldn't wash them. Just blow it out with compressed air or something. A "dry" filter just refers to a filter that doesn't use oil as a means of filtering.
