Walker Y pipe, mid pipe, and muffler review

I recently bought an 04 6MT Sedan and it had some crap fart can muffler on it. I neglected to look to see if it was welded when I bought it.

No worries, I figured I'd just get a coupe midpipe and stock muffler. Needless to say - that's easier said than done. OEM parts appear to be hard to come by on the forum, and the fact that I either have to pay 30 bucks or have a billion posts to put my own thread in the marketplace, I needed a new solution.

Enter Walker Exhaust systems. I know people here can dis on it if they choose to, that's fine. It's not mandrel bent I know, but as Artie Lange says, "waaaah." I was looking for quiet stockish sound from a luxury sedan, not super duper performance (which I don't think the OEM would gain me much anyways, and I wasn't going aftermarket.)

I picked up a Walker QuietFlow SS muffler, and ordered the coupe midpipe part number. When I went to bolt it up, of course, the gangster exhaust was cut at the y-pipe flange and welded! Doh!

Walker makes a y-pipe as well, with the same flex pieces as well. I have to say I was very impressed with the fitment, especially for the price. The Y pipe was 100 bucks, the midpipe was 100 bucks, and the muffler was 150 and has a $50 mail in rebate.

The best part - it's QUIET. No drone either, I don't look like a Honda rice boy. I can dog the car and no one will look my way. I couldn't tell any loss of power (not that I expected any though.) I don't know what a stock sedan sounds like, but this sounds very nice - subtle, but a hint of VQ rumble.

The only thing I noticed was the hanger for the muffer - they were perpendicular to the hanger on the car, so the rubber hanger grommets were twisted, but meh.

I love driving the car now, I can hear myself think, it's great. The only bad thing is I can now hear the throwout bearing at idle, lol - guess I'll need to tackle that next month.

If you're in need of a Y pipe, midpipe, or muffler that bolts right up to OEM stuff - don't hesitate to look at the walker stuff. It's about the same price people want (or less!) for used OEM stuff, and you don't have to pay shipping from Advance, and they can have it in a day.
