Question about a Aftermarket Y-pipe, Please help!

Hi, I had a quick question and I am hoping someone on this forum has the answer to. First off I have a 2005 g35 coupe. Recently I had gone to the dealership for an oil change and while i was there I had the mechanic look under my car and as suspected I have a leak in my oem Y-pipe (from scraping and being lowered.) They quoted me something near 500 dollars for a replacement, which I am defiantly not going to do, so my second option is to purchase a after market Y-pipe from ebay etc for less cost. I do know the diameter of the new y-pipe will be 3" going out which would connect to a 2.25" oem mid.
(I do know that this set up is not ideal for good exhaust flow)

My question is... Would the two flanges be able to meet up and bolt up without a problem? has anyone done this before?... swap out a oem y-pipe and replaced it with a aftermarket y-pipe and kept the everything else stock?

btw I have searched on this site and 350z sites but I haven't got a straight answer.
So any help would be awesome! please lmk! thank you!

Depends on the midpipe, but if it's being sold and described as a direct fit you should be all right. Just be aware that the mis-matched pipes will create some rasp since you're going from a larger to a smaller inner diameter pipe.

its being sold as a 3 inch Outlet which would supposedly meet up with my oem mid which is around 2.25 or so. Does anyone know if the flanges would meet up?
Has anyone tried this? I used to have a sti back when and my 3inch downpipe fit my stock piping. pleeeeaaassee lmk
