Question Injen Intake Owners Question

Hello,

I've been searching around for a while now and I can't seem to find the answer to my question... Also, maybe it's because for sure Injens are not that popular for our cars, but my car already came with it when I purchased it, so Ill just stick with it.

My question is... Is it better to keep the car as short ram? or change it to CAI? The Injen intakes for our cars were designed to be either a short ram or CAI. I currently have it set up at short ram, but I do have the extended tube in the trunk and don't know if I should extend the tube.

Here are the differences for better explanation:

SR Set-Up

CAI Set-Up

So, basically the difference between the 2 are that there is an extended tube you can install for our cars.

Please let me know which set-up most of us Injen Intake owners chose.

Thanks in advance!

I run the extended and love the sound I get with the intake. I would get a injen cover for the intake though if you do decide to run the extended tube. mainly to protect again water.

There is a noticeable difference in the sound by having the extended tube vs not having it? You think there are any power difference gains (even though not noticeable) at all?

I never ran the other set up so couldnt tell you. As far as power, your not going to notice any difference between the 2 setups.

Hydro shields does not work as well as many think, I had one on my old car and the shield slipped a little and caused water so somewhat start getting trapped in there with the filter.... I got hydro locked and emailed injen with it.... They pretty much told me, that sucks, and I should of checked it often.

I was actually planning to stick with 1 instead of changing one and the other lol. I live San Diego, CA and the rain wont cause any huge puddles so I don't have that issue here. I had a friend that had a supercharged RSX-S with CAI. He never had that hydrolocking issue. In fact, he didn't even have that hydroshield thingy lol.

But thanks for the help!

Though it wont be an issue for hydrolocking down here in San Diego... I might still get one if I do go CAI instead of the SR set up.

Theyre actually $25 in autoanything.com!! lol You should check that site! Lots of the items here are cheaper. Also, if you happen to find a cheaper one at another site, they can reimburse you the difference within 1 year of purchase!

I actually heard the same thing from a friend of mine who had the same thing.

Still, I might go ahead and buy it... But I will make sure it is placed very tight. I did see there are different sizes. Im gonna have to check that too since the previous owner didn't give me full details on that...
