Megan test pipes won't fit !!

So I got some megan v2 test pipes a little while ago from a buddy of mine who had them on his 350z. After getting under the car, I've realized they don't fit ! !!!! It's off by about 2 inches from the y pipe. The shape is perfect but literally just a 2 inch space between flanges. My understanding was that the test pipes were supposed to be interchangeable between the two cars. My exhaust guy wants close to 280 for the fabrication to fit them in.... Anybody ever have this issue ??

Does he have the HR 350z (2007 i think)? That could be the difference. Dont pay to have them modified, you can find a used set cheaper than that.

it might be, im unsure to be honest. But regardless, didn't megan make these pipes for all models between 03-07 etc? They also sell them advertised as both g35 350z pipes..

im deff not gonna pay the shop for the fab work because its obviously just not worth it, just trying to figure out whats going on here

See if you can pull the Y-pipe so its touching the test pipe. If you cans stretch it, you can bolt them together.

My megan test pipes were off by a bit but I managed to get them connected to the stock Y-pipe and it made the Y-pipe sit higher (which was nice).

i might be able to but i doubt it because my mid pipe and axle are after market and completely fabricated from its original shape because those also didnt fit initially. I've emailed megan to see if maybe they have an explanation to why they arent interchangable.. its very strange

Custom aftermarket mid pipe and axle back?

If it was modeled after OEM then it should be really damn close. the V2 have flex joints too, I think. I would try having a friend hold them together and attempt to bolt them together that way.

2007 & 08 Z's have HR motors, the cats are different. The interchange is 350Z 03-06 / G35 Coupe 03-07 / G35 Sedan 03-06.

2007-2008 350z's have HR motors and the test pipes and cats are completely different is what he's saying.

2003-2006 350z's have DE motors, the same as the 03-06 sedan and 03-07 coupe (interchangeable)

I hope you don't make a living doing research.
