Getting New Custom Exhaust - Opinions?
Hey,
I'm getting custom cat-back exhaust for my 2004 G35 Coupe, and the guy who's going to be doing it will be welding it all and I believe he'll be using Magnaflow parts.
He said an x-pipe is a must, and he's claimed the sound will be similar to a Camaro lol...
The thing I haven't decided on is whether or not the final muffler should be like the OEM one with one large unit and 2 exhaust tips, or if I should get 2 separate mufflers (more expensive).
Is there anything else I should really get done? He quoted around $500 for the catback and the one large muffler with 2 exhaust tips, which is right in my desired price-range. I'd spend up to $600.
Thanks guys!

Don't rush it. Listen to the exhausts that this forum has provided for you. This thread helped me decide, hands down what I wanted and have been very, very happy with it. The G has a unique sound so everything sounds different.

So if he puts an X-pipe in, he's recommending that you then merge them back together through one muffler? Or is he meaning to use an OEM look muffler that's still 2 inlets. The OEM exhaust merges with a Y-pipe and is one pipe all the way back with 2 tips. If you use an X-pipe, it's dual all the way back.
