Walker Y pipe replacement
Walker Y pipe replacement
06 coupe, flex joint started leaking on the top side of the flex. Condensation seems to be a problem in that area as most of the braiding on the top side was completely disintegrated. I would imagine more and more owners will run into this. Started looking for a used HR pipe but who knows how long a used flex would last. The performance y pipes all have the wrong inlet and outlet size so didn't want to go down that road. Ended up with 2 choices for a new OE comparable replacement and went with Walker. Can't remember what the other company was but their part looked terrible in online pictures. The Walker isn't the best looking y pipe either, but it's working out great.
I did jack up the car on one side to see if I wanted to attempt the install myself, but the bolts are in tight locations and I'm in a salt state. Paid a shop 2 hours labor to do it for $140. The pipe itself goes for $120 online and I used one of the commonly available $45 off $100 coupons at advance auto for the purchase. Along with 3 new gaskets I only paid $90 for parts shipped.
Wanted to share my experience as there was little to no discussion on walker products on any of the G/Z forums. I'm hoping the flex on this Y will last many years and as long as it does, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.
