Worn out LSD would act like an open diff. The smoothness noticed was probably because you actually changed the diff fluid, which does make a difference if the stuff in there is old.

He's right from a dig. With both tires receiving an equal amount of torque, you have faster hook up. Once you are rolling, there is no difference, unless you have the HP to break traction at speed.

from a dig you will get one wheel peel or it will cut your cars power if you still have the training wheels on. but a differential doesnt lag.

if you are talking about your car bogging because the car senses slipping, kills power. then lets you take off? thats not differential lag. thats training wheels and that can be shut off.
yes adding a proper LSD will allow more tq to be distributed equally to the wheels so the power limiter doesnt kick in. but thats not the differentials fault. please dont go around telling people differentials lag.

this is also coming from 10+ years of experience, from rebuilding cars, engines, trans, differentials.
this isnt something i read and pasted here.

Doesnt matter what others think about my experience including yourself. I had a worn vlsd car wouldn't apply the torque properly. I had a quaife installed and it made a world of difference flooring it in low speed rolls

well yes its going to make a huge difference in drivability, it completely changes how tq is distributed between the two wheels.

it doesnt however make your tq come on faster, or make your car faster from less lag.
it can make your car faster from better both wheel traction, im not saying its not worth it. a 2way is on my list this next year. they are 100% worth it. im simply saying there is no such thing as differential lag. its not real.

Using the term lag was intended to get my point across on the performance difference. Wasn't literally referring to it as a "differential lag" as you put it.

Does the Quaife unit use a "clutch pack"? How does it work?

No, they are helical gear assemblies.
They only way you would feel any improvement in performance is if you made a gear change along with the diff change.

I'm not looking for more acceleration (did I just write that?), I just want the good hook-up out of a tight corner. Mine is so worn out its like an open diff now.
