Next step in exhaust system??
If it does have anything to do with it then it's simply because of the average low rpm that an automatic transmission tries to maintain, you could achieve the same result with a manual by shifting early.
It is major fun passing a Prius pilot at speed just to wake 'em the hell up...Gary
That's not at all what we're saying, the claim was made that a 5AT will have drone on the TDX2 exhaust system but the 6MT will not. Others disputed the claim and I suggested that it could be simply a matter of the difference in engine rpm (And then Herrschaft clarified that engine rpm changes frequency) since a 5AT will always try to keep the rpm low when driving normally, most folks don't drive around their 6MT in the 1200-1500rpm range though, not sure if the drone is present at city or highway speeds though.
The transmission itself doesn't generate drone, it doesn't affect the frequency emitted from the exhaust ports on the heads at any rpm throughout the engines range.
I'd be interested in hearing from folks with a drone issue on that exhaust system to see if simply using MM mode removed the drone due to operating at a different rpm.

And the drone is only under heavy load (Hills, slowly increasing speed, travel speeds interstate).
The way the AT applies engine power changes the drone too. Again. Call and ask tony. "THE DRONE IS NOT THERE IN 6MT MANUAL CARS."
No - changing to MM mode does not remove drone unless you drive 2800-4000 rpm all the time.
Well I'm at a loss trying to understand why.
MAGIC!
It's literally the EXACT same exhaust system right? Same hanger locations, same everything right?
The only thing I can try to guess is there's some kind of harmonic dampening that happens from having a fluid-filled torque converter attached to the rear of the engine rather than a hard friction plate clutch.

Does a super charger effect exhaust sound? My car is at Crucial Performance now having one installed. May be a stupid question but I would imagine it does just not sure in what way.....I cant stand the sound of my exhaust now its annoyingly loud especially at lower rpm. Have high flow cats and a somewhat cheap aftermarket system behind it. What would you guys suggest for a good flowing muffler that doesn't sound so bad?

I've been to Zdayz events and ZNationals events in the past and heard a few G35 coupes and 350z's with that exhaust that were in attendance. Without the silencers, its very loud and isn't subtle. The design was carried over and re purposed from Momentum Performance.
I personally like how the Motordyne and Fast Intentions Exhaust looks and sound for the G35 coupe.

I just had great success having a local exhaust shop spend a couple hours welding $150 worth of Totalflow straight thru stainless mufflers onto my cheap aftermarket setup. Really killed the noise at low RPM.
