Resonator leave on or cut off?
Re: Resonator leave on or cut off?
I had the one on my 350Z cut off and it sounded like crap. When the engine is cold and you get on it...made it sound like a kazzoo. I would HIGHLY recommend you leave it on. It doesn't really benefit anything cutting it off.
Re: Resonator leave on or cut off?
I cut the pre-muffler (resonator) off of my sedan and replaced it with an 18" glass pack (resonator). It does get louder but it sounds much better (more like a V8). It also takes off about 25 lbs. The stock premuffler weighs 30 lbs. The glass pack with the pipe doesn't weigh more than 5 or so. You can get different lengths, the longer, the quieter.
Re: Resonator leave on or cut off?
Any muffler shop should have them in stock or can get them in just a couple of days. I've heard guys using Imco. I used one made by Allied. Just call a muffler shop and ask them about the glass packs. They'll know what you are talking about right away.
