another test pipe ques.

hello all. in all the post i read, everyone seems to complain about the sound of test pipes. After intalling pipes on my coupe, my problem is the smell. The fumes from not having cats is bad. i didnt think it would be this bad. Does anyone know if that is normal or did i install it wrong? thanks

the smell is normal, and you will prolly notice a few more sunny days than normal where you live. i can barely notice the smell with mine, but eveyone has a diff. tolerance for it. nothing from your install could really make the smell worse...wait a few days, the pipes prolly have a coating on them, let it burn off, might get a lil better, but not a whole lot.

The smell is normal. I have test pipes as well and the gas smell is rather obnoxious.....and yes it does rattle as well. I have heard that the resonated ones rattle as well...maybe not as loud though.

whats up bro, not sure if its a rattle i hear. all i know is that stock sounds way better. i take it that res pipes might help with sound but not smell. oh well, when i jacked up my car the whole exhaust was scraped and dented so i guess replacing the rest of the exhaust will help.

im not sure if that sound is a rattle. the sound seems like its comming from the back of the car by the exhaust and not under the car where the test pipes are. i think it may be the extra fumes escaping from the exhaust and it just makes that sound. like bees in a coffee can.

Exactly.
I think it is actually resonance of the metal vibrating at a certain frequency due to the increased flow rate.
