Cat Question?

I've been getting some conflicting info about cat delete pipes. Just wanted some info from people who have done this mod.

Q1: Do you always get a CEL when you install cat delete pipes, or does it depend on proper installation.

Q2: Any benefits/negatives from using cat deletes instead of high flow cats.(Don't need to pass emmissions)

Q3: What type/model of cat deletes or high flow cats are you using.

Your 2 cents would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

There are plenty of threads on this topic.

But here is my $.02 worth.......

1. I think most cars after 03.5 will throw a SES light. That is when they went to the LEV2. My 03, did not.

2. Definatly...more power.
But...even if the test pipes are resonated, I think most all of them still sound really raspy at a certain RPM on our VQ. It is just something to do with the exhaust resonance and sound like BB's in a tin can. Kinda Honda'ish to me.
My biggest complaint was the gassy smell. In stop and go taffic with the window down, I actually got a major headache and other people said ..Damn that stinks!

3. I swapped mine out for the Kinetix cats and love them. No change in power that I can tell from the straight pipes, No smell, and sounds much better, not nearly as loud.

Also, the earth really needs the ozone layer.....

There ya go.

Q1. Ditto to old guys response

Q2. Pro: better flow Con: smell + raspiness

Q3. eBay specials. 99bucks they now have resonated test too!

Some people have gutted out thier stock cats. Or just gutted out the secondary portion. This way they look & sound stock, still pass emmissions & get better flow
