Does anybody know if installing test pipes will cause a check engine light on a 2003 coupe. A friend of mine has them on his 03 Z but does not have a check engine light.

most 2003's will not throw a cel light. If you do get a light you can fix it with non foulers......it works. This link does not have the part number but do a search on my350z about non foulers and you will find it. Do a search for the help method. Non foulers are cheap...less than $10 bucks.

ok, here goes. I don't know exactly what they do but they are used for spark plugs. Basically what you are doing with the non foulers is using two of them to make a space between the o2 sensor and the test pipe so the rich exhaust does not hit the o2 sensor directly. basically like a spacer. You have to buy a total of four. They come 2 per package. You dril out the inner part of one of the non fouler. Now you screw the drilled one into the non drilled one. The non drilled goes into the test pipe and the o2 sensor goes on the drilled non fouler....now you have a spacer.

Available at your local automotive store. Spark Plug Non Fouler PN 42009 ($4.99). use a 1/2" drill bit to drill out the non fouler

this is how it actually goes

test pipe->Original non fouler->Modified non fouler->o2 sensor

This is what it does

By moving the secondary o2 sensor away from the direct path of exhaust flow and limiting what exhaust gas can get to the o2 sensor the ecu believes that there is a functioning cat still in the system.

In combination with a full exhaust you will feel a difference. You may or not get rasp. I got it, but you can control it with resonators on the exhaust. You may want to get resonated test pipes as well...good luck. I still have mine...a must for TT.

yeah, I think my rod bent. My motor came out yesterday and is being shipped to SGP racing for the bottem end build. I was going to go with the APS TT but they are no tuners in FL. I was going to build my motor later on and I would have not been able to tune the APS for more power. I guess my new motor is coming sooner than I thought. When I get it back I should be putting down 500-530rwhp.
