Coat your headers?

Just wondering if anyone who installed aftermarket headers had them thermal-coated prior to installation?

I've got about a month before my G arrives and my Nismo Headers are just sitting in a box behind me. I thought about sending them out for coating, both to protect them and reduce a bit of the underhood temps.

Just a heads-up for anyone doing a search in the future. JetHot coatings will coat G35 aftermarket headers, inside and out, for $195 for their sterling silver finish. Add $20 for flat black, blue or gray.

I'm probably going to send my headers out within a few days. I'm trying to decide between the sterling silver (similar to chrome) or the flat black. This is for an IP/Stone coupe. I'm not sure if the bling (sterling silver) would be better than an OEM flat-black look. Any opinions on this would be appreciated as well.

Thermal Tech also does coating, but JetHot looks better to me. Still no idea about other places.

Take a look at the my350z site and search jet hot. There are some good pics and commentary. Most are recommeding to go with the 2000 rather than the sterling.

Thank you! That link really helped me. I'll be going with the Jet Hot 2000 coating as well. The texture looks a lot better than I imagined... ...and the black looks every bit as good as I was thinking!

GT-Ron,

When you call them, tell them you got their info from the 350Z site. I believe there is a group buy still on. The may give you a better price.

That's cool. They did offer a 10% discount in the e-mail price quote they sent to me.

I'll be in the same boat on the install.

Black is the way to go for me too, it seems. Glad to hear that you'll hardly be able to see them as well.

<<EDIT>> I sent my headers out by UPS this morning. They should hit Jet Jot in a few days.
