The fujitsubo exhaust is a realy nice system! When I first got it, I used it with the stock pipes, stock headers and then switched to headers and the Fuji y-pipe. The exhaust system without a doubt opened the car up. It's fit and finish is second to none. Perfect in every way! The tone is deep and "grunty". As some of you may recal, I was one of the few who had purchased this exhaust when it first hit the market (and you had to wait three weeks to get it from Japan). I spent weeks researching various systems (out at the time and more popular were the Borla, Stillen, Injen and B&B). What I found in Dyno results and first hand experience was that the Fuji system was one of the few systems that DID NOT hamper low end torque and helped increase evenly throughout the RPM band, unlike others (Borla for example) which in fact hurt low to mid end performance a tad bit. When I switched over the Fuji Y-Pipe, I really didn't notice any performance gains, other than a bit more rumble from the exhaust. It may helped a bit on the top end, but nothing as for "light to light" runs (that I could feel). When I slapped on a set of NISMO headers, thats when I felt more of what a properly tuned exhaust can do for ya. Power was up! I didnt need dyno results to let me know things were working right, allthough it would be nice to see what these mods have gained in terms of HP and TQ. Bottom line, if you got the budget, then go with the Y-Pipe, otherwise don't sweat it. Invest in a set of headers instead and you'll bbe MUCH happier. Oh but one word of advice, DO NOT purchase ANY of the cheap knock-off headers that are selling on eBay!!!!! A friend of mine got a set for his Z off eBay for $250. When I saw them I was like wow, these look pretty nice. We begun the LONG and ANNOYING installation, and thats when the problems started. The Driver side header was millimeters away from the steering linkage. If you would gas the engine, it would hit without a doubt. The passenger side collecter was off and would not line up with he stock cats. All in all, we ended up taking it off and going back to stock. Talk about wasted time! A whole day gone and nothing to show for it. He ended up returning the headers and getting a set of Borlas, which by the way fit and perform excellent! So, tae my advice, if you do go for any of these mods, stick to proven name brands! Good luck and I hope all this helps...

To be quite honest, I have no idea? He purchased the headers in January and we installed them the weekend before Valentines day (I remember that much). Everything about the kit was "generic". The box was plain, the instructions were just written text and if I remember correctly they really didnt have a brand name (I may be wrong though). Nevertheless, they looked great, I was impressed for the value, but they simply didn't line up. If we wanted to, I'm sure an exhaust shop could have tweaked them up for us, or we could have "dimpled" the driver side exhaust to clear up an rubbing issues with the steering linkage, but we didnt want to go to that extent simply to make use of them, not to mention any major modifcations may actually hamper their ability to perform properly or effectivly.

Thanks ducatiguy, just got one more question becuase you didnt really elab on this part. When you used the Fuji exhasut with stock y-pipe and headers, was their a sound change? Can you describe it a bit more in detail. Honestly, I dont really car about performance increases, I dont believe in exhaust systems as far as performance, to me its more for looks and finish of the polished system. Thanks man, again I appreciate your input.

I actually have a few video clips of when the system was first installed (stock headers, stock y-pipe) and yes there is a differece between the stock system and the Fuji system. Foremost, the stock system sounds sweet (very Italian). The Fuji system sounds more like an aggressive V8, with a deeper tone, and lower grunt. At idle it has a more "loppy" sound, and at mid to full throttle it comes alive with a roar. There is NO in cabin "rice noise" and the tone is very smooth. The over-all build quality and "eye candy" factor is once again second to none.

Start up, idle and a little throttle...

Later this evening I'll record another clip with the system in its curret form, with headers, the y-pipe, and current engine mods (Injen CAI "was also on when the Fuji was first installed", and a set of NISMO cams).

I have to say that the drive by vid is awsome!! Sounds extremely nice. I think I have made up my mind on the exhaust I want. Thanks for the info on the Ebay headers too, I was curious about those. Now I know not to get them.

I've heard that the Fuji is a little quiet. Did the Nismo headers change much in the way of sound (volume, quality)?
