My wife didn't even notice. They really aren't that loud.

Ok, my Crawford cats just came in! Now, how long should it take these guys to install it. I'm curious, so I'll know if I'm getting ripped off or not.

Thanks,

Jeff

I had mine installed at Nissan for $40 (BIG hookup), but expect to pay $60+. It took about 2 hours, including 30min for the car to cool down and another 30min of chitchatting.

I need you to do me a favor, open both and look if your heatshield is already bent on both cats. TIA.

I'll take a picture once I unwrap them. I might get them installed later today.
I need to see if they can get me in.

I'll take my digital camera.

Thanks a lot, I only opened one of mine and it was bent, never looked at the other one but I'm still getting a slight vibrating sound at low rpm. Maybe it wasn't bent enough.

what i'm getting now with my setup is a loud and very noticeable and annoying vibration after cold start (engine warming up at around 1100rpm)

also (and this might be an unrelated issue) when my car is idling i hear rattling that seems to slowly pulse up and down in volume

I would say go for the Crawford hi-flows. I got a chance to borrow a pair recently and have to say they are probably the best hiflows you can buy for these cars.

1) Sound great, no rasp whatsoever caused by the Crawfords
2) Build quality is excellent, very clean welds, solid part
3) Come with brackets pre-welded to securely mount just like OEM cats
4) Make nice power, a definite step up from the OEM cats

To the Cronies, yes this is actually me. My account was not hijacked and Doug does not have a gun to my head

Finiti, I can tell you (since I was the first person to drive Chris' car after the cat install) that the cats DID NOT rattle. The HKS exhaust and Crawford Cat combo is the 2nd best sounding exhaust that I've heard (next to Ian's borla exhaust and RT cat combo), but the HKS is just slightly too loud for me with the windows down. It's definitely not as loud as Josh's Injen exhaust, but it *might* get to me after a while. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the blue tips (with my LR coupe), but the fit and finish of the HKS exhaust is 100% top quality!

You know, the most interesting thing is that Ian himself didn't recommend either the RT Cats or the Borla, but his dyno #s speak for themselves. My intake is going on tomorrow and my car will be nicely loud as-is, not sure if I want it any louder as a daily driver.. especially looking at exhaust gain to price ratios I know what my next mod is going to be and it won't be an exhaust, but I'd love to hear a few sound clips of the cats with different exhausts. I have a vid of mine with just the Crawfords, I have to ask Steve to host it.

You forgot to mention what you thought about John's Greddy exhaust on his coupe. I sat in the back and I thought it sounded very deep, almost gutteral like. Definately noticeable at full throttle. Under normal driving conditions, you can hear the deepness of the exhaust note, but not as deep as mine.

HKS was deep as well. I don't know what it originally sounded like without it mated to the crawford cats. I thought it was louder and emitted a higher pitched exhaust tone compared to the Greddy when Chris really gunned it. I really liked the look of it along with the flamed tips.

Geez, I feel like i'm some kind of exhaust note connoisseur. Enough of this thread...

Did anyone answer the question as to whether or not you have to bend the drivers side heat shield on the crawfords? just looked at mine and neither were bent.

You need to modify the heatshield or it would vibrate against the frame on the driver side due to less clearance. It's not that big a deal, took me over a week to notice it. I'm taking mine in for the same issue and I'm almost sure that my cats came already bent.

Neff: were you guys inside the shop during the install? I figured Lokey could have bent them without you noticing and that's why you and C-Keith get no rattles.
