DC Sports Headers... any good?

I'm thinking about getting a set of these... Stainless steel of course... anyone have any experiences with them? good/bad???

What about other headers? I'd rather not do Crawford because I don't want to go through the hassle of removing motor mounts and the such... let me know.

Thanks.

What about the NISMO headers? I believe John from LOKEY has one up at the shop still for sale, if your interested. Just remember that John is out from his office all this week though... I know the DC Sports Headers are good stuff for Honda and Acura but not sure about Nissan/Infiniti though.

If you look at the piping design (how they're bent/welded together) of the Nismo, Alphawerks, DC Sports, Strup, TopSpeed, Pro-1, you'll see they're all pretty much similiar. I think gains between any of the headers mentioned would be similiar as well. They're are some pretty good threads about this topic on www.my350z.com in the intake/exhaust section.

Look at this thread for some good info. They have picture comparisons of all headers mentioned. Look at how each them look almost identical (in regards to design), only the outside & interior welds differ:
http://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=122443

It all comes down to quality construction and how much you're willing to spend. Some of the mentioned headers are put together poorly. The welds on the outside of some of the mentioned headers may look o.k., but one look at the inside of the collector and you'll see that some really crappy welding of pipe pieces.

Nismo's headers are made in Japan by Fujitsubo and are the most expensive of the bunch. Alphawerks are supposedly made in Japan as well and modified to fit our cars here. DC Sports are made here in the States. Strup are similiar to DC Sports (owner used to work for DC). Pro-1 and Topspeed are Chinese made copies of the DC Sport headers. Just wanted to include all of that to show you what kind of construction quality you get (Japanese being the best & Chinese being the worst).

If you're looking for used DC Sport headers:
http://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1520963

Also pm Pimpinpearl & XG35DriverX (both FGC members) for oppinions on how they like theirs DC Sports headers. XG35driverX may also be selling a pair for an excellent price......

But if you want the best....go crawford headers

Yep, I went with Crawford because it is the best. If you're going to do such a tough install, might as well get the best. IMO, the Nismo is the second best due to the collector design. All the pipes merge in the collector, rather than being jammed into one larger pipe. True, as Demonteverde321 said above, some makers do a better job of welding inside of the collector, but they basically just dump them all into the collector; they do not merge like the Nismo or Crawford. There is however, a company in Phoenix that makes a Nismo copy with the same collector design. I have no first hand experience with them, but their header looks interesting because of the seemingly well designed collector. They are:

Thanks FLFire, but he sold those a couple of days ago to a guy with a G35. I picked up a set of Alphawerks headers though for a good price...

G spot, I'm really interested in your opinion about your new headers. Let us know how the installtion went, power increase, sound changes, RPM idle changes (sometimes you may have to bump up the timing about one degree), etc... I believe Alphawerks are designed by NEXUS Industry in Japan, right? Also, their website list headers for the G @ $1175 which is about the same price as Crawfords so, what made you choose them over Crawford, just curious. I see that some people are actually coated their hearders with "black jet coat" to help keep the heat inside the tube, are u planning on doing this as well? Many of us are just eager to learn more information, Thanks Again.

Hey C-Keith. I have no problem listing all my feedback both here and the FL forum because I have a lot of new toys coming my way! See my sig. I am planning on installing them prob in the next week, they haven't exactly gotten here yet. Alphas are designed by NEXUS in Japan and the headers are slightly modified to fit USDM ones. The website lists the price somewhat high. Talk to Avalon Racing, I managed to get a set shipped to my house for $600.... not bad. I haven't looked into the black jet coat yet because I don't have the headers yet... and I am thinking about doing it. Just have to look into it more.

Anyone know how hard it is to advance timing a degree on this car? B/c I am knowledgable, but haven't taken the time to look on this car yet.

And oh yeah, there is a ton of feedback for headers on my350z. I find that site to be much more useful in information when it comes to engine mods.

G Spot

If your even thinking of Jet-Hot, have your vendor send them to Jet-Hot rather than you, saves a lot of time, hassle, and postage.

You call Jet-Hot first, get a work order number, give it to your vendor, and the rest is easy.

I bought my Crawfords that way. Doug Stewart, recommended the standard Jet-Hot Sterling, BTW. Doug shipped my Headers to Jet-Hot, they turned them around in 2 days, and I will have them tuesday morning. Jet-Hot has two facilities that do the coating, one is in Arizona and the other in Mississippi.

The problem is, they already are on the way to me. So then, sending them out again isn't a problem because my dad does a lot of shipping... How much did it cost to do the Jet Hot coating? I am thinking the black jet hot coat..... any idea how much that costs?

First of all, for the jet coating. I think I heard somewhere on my350z.com that the price is around $200 but wasn't for sure if it's the same company as lowrider is talking about.

John @ Lokey can advance your timing there at the shop, usually just takes about five minutes, send an PM to neffster because he just had his timing advance by John also.
