Anyone bought this Y-pipe?

Im tempted but nervous about it. A friend of mine in the business says he has dealt with them before and says they are a great company, but has no info on this y-pipe. Anyone here have this on their car?

Looks just like any other UT, Gruppe-S, Pro-1 type of Y-pipe. Shipping is kinda high, but that's expected from ebay.

Hehe....now there's a funny assumption. How about if I told you there is a factory in Taiwan that cranks out three different types of "brand name" Y-pipes, all built by the same factory. One pipe is 390, one 320, and one in the 200 dollar range....now why do you think that is (p.s., the answer is branding).

because the company that sells it for $390 actually has a staff and will stand behind the product that they are selling while the company selling it for $200 is some guy selling stuff out of his house and doesn't give a damn if it falls apart as long as he has your money.

Ever been to a Taiwan factory? Their quality control is all over the place. What if I told you there was an quality inspector at the end of the assembly line inspecting and binning the products as "Good," "Acceptable," and "Marginal/Poor." Which do you think end up as no-name brands? Pretty standard practice. I had an angle grinder that looked identical to my brother's Makita. The blue plastic case actually had the same injection mold marks. It came in a "Made in Taiwan" box. I used it maybe 10 times, and it died. My bros Makita has seen regular use over 8+ years. You are correct though, because mine wasn't branded as Makita, or anything else, I don't associate the poor quality, even though I'm convinced they were made in the same factory. In some cases, the comfort of a face to blame is worth the extra $$.

That said, it's a Y-pipe in question, there's only so much that can go wrong. The eBay seller is big, and will almost certainly take it back if there is a major fitment problem. Long term warranty is not likely. Again, it's a Y-pipe, so there's not much gain to be had and the performance difference between the $150 and $400 ones is insignificant. Note that the output of this Y-pipe is 3" thus larger than the OEM exhaust. It will bolt up, but the sudden reduction in cross-section has an adverse effect. A search will yield options discussed.
