distinctive 350z/g35 sound lost with straight through exhaust?
wanted to know if i put a straight through exhaust on my 05 g coupe, will i lose the original style of the sound completely? i know it will be extremely louder and all, but i was wondering if that burly/whiny and distinctive sound of the G35/350z will be lost completely, or just louder (which is what i am looking for)
i know it also all depends on the muffler, and i will pick one that has the closest resemblence to the stock sound, either that or the Top Speed muffler.. has a nice sound to it

I just installed the Borla on my coupe last week..... and now it sounds like it's got a V8 under the hood. Some people like that, I prefer the stock. I'll give it some time, but the current plan is to slap the OEM exhaust back on and call it a day.
yes, a straight thru exhaust will definitely change the sound of your exhaust. You can kiss that OEM sounds goodbye! ;o)
it'll be noticeably louder, probably more raspy (have not heard a straight pipe setup on a G35 yet).
I just recently installed a straight thru center section exhaust on my race car and the change in sound was very different from what I was used to hearing -of course, it sounds more like a race car now which I like, but for street use, I probably wouldn't go this route.
If you're looking to keep closer to stock sound and increase in HP, you might want to consider a set of headers instead.
I will be posting a vendor classified special on this list shortly, but for reference to our special this month:
