K&N short ram dyno
K&N short ram dyno
Hello guys. just got my car back from K&N... before i get to the good stuff, heres a little bit of background info. my car is a 6MT G35 SEDAN.
in 4th gear, i got from 227.2 to 234.7 at the wheels
in 5th gear, i got from 230.8 to 239.4 at the wheels
i have pictures of the intake and of the dyno charts, which i will attempt to post right now.
they said the intake should msrp at about 250, but probably 200 on the streets. my guess is that it will be cheaper than this as this is only a short ram.
1st driving impression: its a tad bit quicker when revs are up there. getting to 120 in 5th gear was a cinch. the engine sounds much better, but until i get an exhaust, i wont be satisfied. i think maybe if someone designed a heat shield to put between the filter and the engine, it would help a lot.

Re: K&N short ram dyno
cool, those are good gains......Stillen makes a short-ram kit with a heat shield.
Hey, dont reset your ECU for a month or 2. Then dyno the car.....the gains should probably be gone....thats what you get with an adaptive ecu

Re: K&N short ram dyno PIX UP
here are the pix: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4289787515
i have it posted up before, but i dont know what happened to it. strange.
will the gains really be gone? i heard that was just a rumor. i would dyno again, but i dont have 10 dollars to spend on it.
i noticed that on the dyno charts, the temperature outside was lower when the tested with the intake on. that may have affected the hp.
are they gains from the stillen high-flow better? anyone know of any dyno charts? or pix, etc. thanks a lot. hope my post helps in your decision making.

Re: K&N short ram dyno
this is how K&N left my car. Im thinking about adding the stillen airbox. does anyone know anything about the venturi ring? what is it? thinking about adding that too.

RamboRami.. Please explain what you mean by h.p. gains "disappearing" after a month or two due to an adaptive ECU. If this is the case, what is the point of kits like the Stillen, K&N, Injen and others. Gains completely disappearing indicates the products are useless and should be recalled in my opinion (adaptvie ECU or not). I guess I'm just missing your point.

Dude,
This K&N device has no heat shield! You'll be sucking in hot engine air the whole time. The Stillen box has seperated the hot air from the intake and utilizes the factory intake ducts in the process. Here's a pic of the Stillen installed. I would not even consider this K&N product if it comes like this. This may be a "work in development progress photo, at least I hope it is!
This isn't the best photo but it shows you the box the Stillen comes with, plus it has a K&N filter!

Let's not forget that there is a CAI model as well...... Which extends the pipe all the way under the front bumper area & exposes it to the front grille......
