If you're still running the oem mid pipe, make sure that you have a muffler shop install an adapter for the flange size difference. Let us know the results.

Your aftermarket Y Pipe's rear flange is 3" in diameter and the oem mid pipe's flange is 2.5" in diameter. There is a reducer cone that will adjust to the difference for better flow. Here's a link - https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...highlight=Pipe. Where are you located? In So. Calif.?

I get wat you are saying now. I should get the Dr. Gas 3" to 2.5" reducer and weld it to my stock mid pipe instead of just bolting it right on. Thanks for the help and do you know where I can order one?

Also if our stock pipping is 2.5" and the borla is also 2.5", why is there gains over the stock exhaust? They are both the same diameter, so is the stock muffler the reason why we lose hp?

I live in Fresno, CA (central cali).

I think there would be a market for a y-pipe w/ a 2.5" outlet. Why arn't any companies making one?
kinetix made one, and so did jic. i had an issue with my kinetix y-pipe. wouldn't fit right. i think there is one more company that does it. can't remember what name.

there are a few reasons. but that compensation for loss of high end horsepower, is good torque down low. it's a give and take. but these exhaust systems aren't too bad. it's the other components, headers and cats, that could use improvement.

Send a pm to Gsedan35 (Jim C). He's also in Central Calif. Jim is a great resource for information and advice on exhaust and suspension issues.

I just installed my Tanabe Y Pipe. The pipe is very well designed, constructed and looks great. The flange to the mid pipe matched up really well. My butt dyno tells me that the car is building rpms much quicker with a slightly louder growl at 3500. I'm very happy with this mod.

Hey Keith N, what kind of numbers are u putting down? I just saw your sig and I realized u have almost all the same mods I have for my g35 (just not installed yet).
As for mods:
Kinetix HF cats/plenium
injen intake
megan y pipe
alphawerks headers
ur crank pulley
gg 10 wire kit
6MT 350z rear differential 3.5 final drive with lsd (pumpkin)

Hopefully in the future, the ecu reflash and the stillen vb. I'm hoping to get this auto into the 13.5.

Anyone running a Megan (or similar) Y pipe that has a 3" collector into a JDM exhaust that is 2.75" (70mm), like Tanabe or Apexi? I would think that the 76mm into 70mm transition would be horrible for flow and very turbulent.
