crawford cat broke!!!

literally broke. when i get it replaced, i'll take pics.

i was driving to work (under normal driving), and i noticed my engine in an instant got really loud. it sounded like it was coming from the right side. it sounded like a header leak, actually.

anyway, being as i'm in my work clothes, i took it right over to a garage, and had them lift it up. the arm literally broke away from the cat, taking a piece of the cat with it, so now i've got a big hole in my right side cat.
sounds like a$$!!! i was so embarrassed to drive her to work and home today.

and to make matters worse, i'm driving my wife's explorer until this gets fixed.

anyway, i'm familiar with crawford's reputation, and excellent customer service (which is why i bought these). so when i get this taken care of, i will definitely post the results.

doug went on to explain that this is not uncommon with certain types of exhaust (naming nismo) basically it puts stress on certain parts of the cat that aren't supposed to be there. so he's already done a modification to his design to help reinforce the structure.

no, but with all aftermarket mods, the user must assume some responsibility. i'm sure if i took my car to him, it wouldn't be an issue. but i don't mind taking some blame for messing with stock components.
