Plenum on '05 G35?

I'm doing some research on the potential benefits of either plenum replacement or using a plenum spacer on my '05 Sedan. But I've noticed a couple of comments saying that the '05's already have a redesigned plenum and, therefore, won't see any benefits from a Crawford, Motordyne, etc.

Is this true?

Only the '05 Coupes with manual transmissions have the new plenum. The '05 with the Automatic transmission has the old plenum design.

Hope this helps.

I thought that the 05 sedan 6mt had the same exact engine as the 05 coupe 6 mt?

The 298 HP engines are the ones with the redesigned lower plenum. I believe the 05 sedan does have the 298. None of the plenum or spacer mods have been shown to work on the 298 engine.

Correct. Both the coupe AND the sedan 6MT's have the redesigned plenums.

Just wait until the Motordyne MREV mod debuts. That'll be the equivalent (or better) that you're looking for. It's exclusively designed for the '05+ 298HP "RevUp" engine package.

That couldn't be further from the truth...

I have a Crawford plenum, and it increased power very nicely, especially above 5000 rpm. With just Crawford plenum, Crawford headers, Crawford hi-flow cats, knife edged throttle body, some port clean up on the lower plenum, UR crank pully and 5 gallons of VP 101 unleaded, I pulled 285hp & 266pft at the wheels on my '05 6MT sedan (the 298hp motor). The only mod that I have tried that I absolutely didn't like was the UT-R Y-pipe which made my car run lean until 6300 rpm (and I lost 23hp & 22pft of torque peak). That's a huge power loss, especially the torque numbers. However, some of that loss was because during the Y-pipe test, I didn't have any race fuel and we could hear some detonation. Stock Y-pipe went back on! Power is back.... heh.

you should check the tread about the new plenum from motordyne for the new 05s "revup engine"

For those of you, whom have a '05 to '06 - 6MT, wait for Motordyne's new M-REV mod. I have the said mod installed and it truly taps in to our G's NA potential.

Here's the link to my review of the soon to be released M-REV mod . . .

my ex has an 05 6mt coupe and got the spacer and the engine sounds louder and the exhaust is more burlier and she feels quite a bit more power from the upgrade in combination with the Injen short ram intake...

i was thinking of doing the same thing to mine...
